More Junior Day Love...

Everything ive read just reiterates the old staff did not recruit correctly. Seems like a lot of burned bridges that need mending. The blank slate approach denoted in the article seems to of resonated with quite of a few of the 17' class. GO RU

Flood had no stain

Agreed - and it becomes more & more apparent that previously there was a fundamental lack of professional selling skills (and a corresponding lack of understanding of the essential components of a strategic selling approach).
It is painfully clear that whatever transpired was accomplished almost entirely via some very simplistic and "old school" - "rapport selling".

Many have said, and I agree, that Flood wasn't prepared for the position he was put in. Given Schiano's hasty departure, I'm not surprised. On the other hand, it seems like Chris Ash has been preparing for a head coach job for quite some time; maybe not this year, but his PLAN was that one day he would be a coach.

There is a large consensus that Schiano was a bit of a control freak; it's possible that Flood never got to see the way Schiano recruited. You used the word "correctly", I think efficiently might be a better word. I think Flood did HIS best, but feel it fell way short of where we are trying to go.

I love the direction we are going in. I don't know what kind of class Ash will pull in in '17, but if the team plays better and he has two solid years to recruit, I expect him to kill it by '18, and quite possibly sooner. It's easy for the "buzz" to wow the kids, but for the HS coaches to walk away with a completely new outlook says a lot about the impact this staff can make. Keep in mind, the coaches have seen it all before, the kids, for the most part, are wide eyed at this stage with all the attention that they are getting.
