Musburger still a good broadcaster

He's a decent broadcaster who sometimes says weird things and tries to be overly dramatic.

Being overly dramatic is what emotionally invested fans want. Jim Nantz, Joe Buck and Al Michaels are all professionals, but sometimes we just want passion.

That reminds me.....is Carlin coming back a done deal?

Is this one of those sarcasm OPs I've been hearing about?

Have watched Musberger since he was a local sports guy in Chicago in the late 60's. He's always been a homer, a front-runner, and an ND shill. He's always been knowledgeable, and he's not bad for being 76, but you always know who he is rooting for.

I think Michaels and Collinsworth is the best team doing games.

I like Jesse Palmer from when he started to do the Thursday night games. He always seemed to do his homework. When we were televised I felt he actually knew something about the team. Burnt Mossbunker is another story. I have always considered him smarmy and insincere. But that is just how he strikes me. I'm sure others like him.

I agree Palmer is very knowledgable . He wasn't a good NFL quarterback , but he's a good announcer and bachelor

Musberger is, and always has been, horrible. And he probably had the single worst performance ever for an annoucer during that LSU bowl game years ago, where he apparently attained instant orgasms by merely uttering the name, "Honey Badger."

There'll never be another Keith Jackson but Vern comes the closest of the one's still working. Musburger is a step below.

I agree Palmer is great as an analyst.

If I had a drink for every time Musberger says "Granddaddy of Them All", i would need a stomach pump and charcoal. ESPN has him calling the Rose Bowl just hear him say that phrase. Brent has never met a cliche he has not overused.

Spot on!

Ran into Musberger in a Chicago airport many years ago. People were saying hello to him and he was a real jerk.

I love him as he does a great job particularly at the Rose Bowl. I think the old school people over 40 who remember him and guys like Keith Jackson appreciate what he brings to the table

Musburger is not even in the same league (or broadcast booth) as Keith Jackson.

I despise Musberger. How anyone can like him or look forward to hearing his bloviating is beyond me. He and Chris Berman should be forced to listen to each other yap for eternity in hell.
This may be one of the better statements, man two broadcasters that I truly loath and you picked them both.

Francesa luuuuvs Mussy - first guy he worked for as a researcher or something. He always sounded like bloviator to me but after the way Herby and Co never shut-up and let games breathe, bloviating doesn't seem so bad anymore

Miss hearing "oh Nellie"

Musburger is a great broadcaster. When the sound is off. When it's on, he's fresh-squeezed dung.

No one has ever had Musburger's ability to find a catch phrase and beat it to death

Me too. Brock Huard, doing the Sugar Bowl right now, is always prepared and very professional.

At end of broadcast when he was sending you to next game He said we now send it to Bob Wah shah shin in New Orleans. Wah shoe zin He f'd it up so bad I hope my phonetic spelling makes sence.
