Hope not! But would not be surprised. East coast alums chance to see national champs.

RU would certainly be a draw for tOSU fans. A stadium/campus they've never seen. NYC in close proximity. I expect a large turnout.

I mentioned in another thread I have a good buddy here in Hoboken, OSU alum, whose group just purchased another 20, on top of the 40 they already had, and they expect more and more friends to be purchasing today/tonight if possible.

During lunch I passed a few packs of Buckeye fans near the Times Square area.

they can bring 20,000 but they have to buy a lot of the seats from season ticket holders..... it will be interesting to see if there are a lot of
OSU fans milling about, looking for tickets at game time.

I think they could bring more ans than PSU simply because NO ONE was selling PSU tickets. Maybe some people let PSU friends use theirs - but it was the matchup of the decade for RU fans.

This is less so. Yes OSU is #1 - but we are like #70. Diehards of course will be there - but lots of people would rather make $100+ than see RU get blown out. Conversely, OSU fans get to see a championship caliber team at a discount, unlike PSU fans, who could always see them in State College pretty easily.

Unlike last year, with PSU and Michigan, I think there are a lot more season ticket holders hawking their extras, or even their seats, for this one, for a few reasons. Sucks, but, it seems to be the feeling I'm getting off the boards.

I'm staying at the Downtown Hyatt. Quite a few O fans in the lobby area. Also a Rutgers function going on here today, so at least those visiting fans are running into lots of on-site RU signage.

Last year, PSU brought about 7,000 fans: 3,000 were from the visitor allotment, and 4,000 were PSU fans who bought tickets through Rutgers or the secondary market. In order for OSU to bring 10,000-15,000 fans, that means they get the same 3000 visitor allotment and 7,000 to 12,000 from Rutgers and the secondary market.

Rutgers only had about 6000 single-game tickets available for sale this year, and about half of those for the OSU game were bought by season ticket holders. So that means that OSU fans would have had to buy 100% of the single-game tickets that weren't bought by season ticket holders, and then get another 4,000 to 9,000 tickets from season-ticket holders through the secondary market. In order to do that, OSU fans would need to buy up 10% to 25% of the tickets held by season ticket holders.

I don't see any way that OSU fans managed to pick up 100% of the available single game tickets plus another 10%-25% of tickets held by season ticket holders. So while 10K-15K OSU fans might want to go to this game, they're not getting tickets.

With everyone dressed in scarlet the only way for people at home to tell is if we can hear the O H I O going aorund the different sections of the stadium.

We have skyscrapers in Ohio. Sorry if we take a few minutes to look at the most amazing skyline in the world. [eyeroll]

1 In my party of 4 is OSU fan from work but in fairness he comes to alot of RU games with me

I bet a lot of season ticket holders sold their tickets to OSU fans

Perhaps the Buckeye fans will actually get in to their seats before 8pm, thereby making HPSS not look as sad as it usually does at kickoff

Like when PSU came to town thinking they would be buying up tickets outside the stadium and taking over? If OSU brings 15K here there will be a lot of unhappy Buckeyes standing outside the stadium.

Hopefully you don't mean Cleveland.

That is one of the most depressing cities I have ever been to in my life. I was shocked how little action was going on there. It seemed like it was a fake city built for a movie of some kind, then abandoned.

171- I walk 1.5 miles each way from the Port Authority Bus terminal to my office and take different routes just to enjoy the atmosphere- and I have worked in NYC for 10+ years. so no issues about looking from me.

Assumptions. [pfftt]

Not really.

It is not an assumption that visitors get 3000 allotment. It is not an assumption that after season ticket sales that Rutgers only had about 6000 single game tickets available, and that season ticket holders purchase about 3000 of the OSU single game tickets during the pre-sale week; that was all reported by Rutgers. Rutgers also reported that about 31,000 season tickets were sold (the remaining tickets are student allotment and tickets retained for official use).

So it is simple math to recognize that the tickets available for OSU fans are the 3000 visitor allotment, up to 3000 single game tickets available through single game sales, and whatever they can get from season ticket holders through the secondary market. And it is simple math to calculate that if OSU fans take the 3000 visitor allotment and 100% of the 3000 single game tickets available, then they would need a minimum of 4K to 9K tickets through the secondary market in order to bring 10K to 15K fans to the game. And it is simple math to calculate that 4K to 9K secondary market tickets represents more than 10% to 25% of tickets held by season ticket holders.

So the only assumption is whether you think that season ticket holders will sell more than 10% to 25% of their tickets to OSU fans?

OSU didn't sell out their visiting team allotment of 3K. They returned tickets to us.

Doesn't mean much, to be honest, so did MSU and they showed up in very nice #'s 2 weeks ago. BTW I heard they sent back "dozens."

I wonder how many season ticket holders got discouraged and sold their tickets after the PSU game. I'll wait until tomorrow night for the actual results.

Were they gawking at the skyscrapers?

I looked up at the Empire State Building a few weeks ago, and was immediately accosted by 4 hawkers trying to sell me tickets for tours and attractions. So I quickly rubbed my neck, said to my wife that I need to see a doctor about my neck spasms, pushed the hawkers out of the way, and kept walking.

Every year we get the "dont be surprised when _______ takes over your stadium" and it NEVER happens. Obviously there will be thousands of fans there to support their team. But It won't be enough to make everything weird or to make us look dumb. I grow weary of all these pregame "scary stories" every time a marquee opponent comes to town. Yeah, expect visitors, we get it.
