How is it obvious? Why not just leave it blank like every other sport was?
Nike is a whore and says it to all schools. It a promotional video. What do you expect them to say? We think Rutgers is a mid their programs so we are going to give them an average deal? What they say in a promotional video for the school and what they br Big to the negotiation table is two different things. You really reason way to much into it.Video is interesting. "Trust me on this, Nike loves Rutgers." Question is enough to cough up money when their deal ends this summer? That will be the question. Currently, Rutgers only gets "in kind" and no money from the Nike deal.
Boo freakin who SallySo lame...the only thing i like is the new knight.
All you blind people can see the numbers now...unfortunately they're way too EFFIN BIG.
No one cares about your opinion, nor any other Pedd State fan.![]()
I hate the front of the jersey. I have the same complaint with Penn State Jersey. With the B1G logo, R and swosh it looke to cluttered. It would be so much better if you at least removed the B1G logo. Put it on the pants or something but I hate it one the jersey. In other photo it did not have the B1G patch. It would just be a cleaner look.

No offense but It's common sense that it's a model to show the design of the name plate, not that everyone will have Rutgers on the back.
This gimmicky shit of the past is not the norm, most teams have the name of the player
No offense taken..just confusing cause football was the ONLY sport with RUTGERS on the back. No other teams have their names on the back?
I see your point about the B1G logo, I think it has to be there though. I'm just happy the uniform match ups will look more B1G, that RU and PSU jersey looks much better next to each other then red pajamas and silver.![]()

I'm a millennial and I love it.
The white uniforms actually remind me a bit of the old Baltimore Colts white uniforms.Ha, I think we have 2 generations here.
millenials hate it.
baby boomers love it.
All I know is this look below is the least intimidating football uniform I have ever seen. Looks more fitting in a powderpuff league:

I appreciate what Ash said. But I am curious if the players and recruits have been tweeting about the UNIS and what their opinion is.The old uniforms were supposedly a selling point for recruits, but that hasn't been Ash's experience.
"Not one recruit has ever asked me about the uniform," Ash said. "When they come on campus, just like they do everywhere, they want to put it on and they want to take pictures with it. But nobody has ever said anything to me about it. Except a lot of fans have."

Where did you hear that? I think the chainmail pattern on the sleeves is just supposed to represent something a knight would wear. The chain link representing the unification of the multiple campuses is a cool touch . This uniform is simple, yet meaningful. Modern, yet classic
I like the uniforms. I can read the numbers. The Knight has been our logo for eternity, and I can't even see any difference in the "secondary" logo. Yadda, yadda, yadda,.
WHAT DO THE RECRUITS THINK OF THE UNIFORMS? To me, that is all that matters.. Any feed back from the athletes?
To say Nike says that to all schools is inaccurate. Nike never created a promo video like that for Rutgers when they were in the AAC. Nor do they do it for small schools. No one is saying that Nike loves Rutgers. What I found interesting is that Nike spent the time and effort to do it right. We will truly see how much they want to be the brand at Rutgers when they negotiate a new deal next year.Nike is a whore and says it to all schools. It a promotional video. Recruits love it, few examples.I appreciate what Ash said. But I am curious if the players and recruits have been tweeting about the UNIS and what their opinion is.

Funniest line of the Nike video:
"When they put this uniform on, you really are becoming that red knight of legend. The Scarlet Knights that show up on the field are gonna embody that ferocity, that toughness, that never-say-die attitude which I think is already so much ingrained in who you are."
Uhh what??? Aside from the grammatical inconsistency in the first sentence, she's saying these uniforms will make the players tougher and more ferocious? But wait then she says it is already so much ingrained in them, so which is it? Obviously this part wasn't meant to be taken this literally, but I always find such generic marketing babble to be kinda funny.
Is there more than one video? I only saw this one:The video I watched talked about the meaning of the chain metal . I definitely heard it- you gotta trust me on this
Looks like the players like the more traditional uniform.
"They did a great job restoring the pride in our uniforms and brought it to new life," wide receiver Vance Matthews said. "We brought the throwbacks out a couple times last year and that was kind of our choice as a fans' choice."
"It's going to be good – our family has to be able to see our numbers," defensive end Julian Pinnix-Odrick said. "That's what my what mom asks about when I go home. The parents were a little frustrated, but they'll be happy with these."

It was in the APP article:Where did you hear that? I think the chainmail pattern on the sleeves is just supposed to represent something a knight would wear.
Thanks, I had a hard time finding that. Anyway, I don't think anyone would ever make the connection of the chainmail representing the unification of the campuses until they are told to. I think it's cool they were trying to incorporate that into the uniform, but I think if you have to explain it, it's too much of a stretch. It was in the APP article:
Chainmail is the earliest form of metal armor worn by warriors with origins dating back before the fifth century. The pattern is meant to symbolize five campuses coming together to form one Rutgers.
Also reported the blackout uniform will be for one game:
“We will have a black uniform that we will use one game a year,” Ash said of Rutgers, which kept its alternate look under wraps. “It will be a black-out type of a game like has happened here.”
I can't think of any uniform that is intimidating.lol, not intimidating enough..wtf kind of complaint is that
I can't think of any uniform that is intimidating.
Players are. Teams can be. But clothing...nah.
AgreeSome people have nothing better to do than complain about uniforms. Rutgers signed off on the new Nike design. Support our new athletic leadership.
