No. 7/8 Rutgers Men's Lacrosse at Army

Was at Loyola v Hop today.

Final score was 13-8 but the game was not even close. Loyola was up 12-3 with 7 min left and emptied the bench, switched goalies and Hop left starters in and scored 5 goals in the last 6-7 minutes.

Loyola defense is really strong. Much better goalie play this year.

Loyola looks very different than the last couple years.
Loyola is looking really good...

Just got home. Everyone has correctly pointed out the issues today and they are numerous. Dugenio playing and going 50% woulda cured a lot of our defensive ills. The team is very different than the 22 version in the middle of the field. They miss JJF on D as well. A ho hum win against Stony Brook, a loss today and a tough Loyola team next week is going to make for a tough start to the season. This Army team also lost to UMass who RU plays as well.

Must win out the pre-season. BIG is gonna be tough as the space between the bottom and top teams is smaller this year.

This may be an ear;y season inflection point as a loss to Loyola could put them in a tight spot as games at UMass and Princeton loom very big in the out-of-conference schedule. Before the season started I believed that we could go undefeated or have 1 loss in the OOC schedule, as yes I know just how hard is is to play Army anywhere but especially up there. But, now with Loyola playing better than expected and UMass beating Army head-to-head. I know that @Caliknight has said one game at a time but we need to get back Dugenio and Rall as they are key glue guys.

Hopefully they both continue to get healthy.

I was surprised to see Rall play.

A shoulder for a FOGO is no small thing. Hope he can go because we got our lunch eaten at the X. The Army FOGO even scored to put the exclamation point on his day.

Especially if it's his right shoulder. BTW, near the half, Army's FOGO is 15 for 17 against Wagner. They were actually down 5-3 midway through the 2nd and scored 5 in 2 minutes. I think they were beaten up Saturday and then received a lecture mid period.

Sat was a VERY physical game. Some of those ground ball battles were epic

Credit to Army as they had an answer for each RU run and it often started at the X. That said, it was the type of game that you wished for 10 more minutes because it just seemed it was only a matter of time till RU went up but I digress.
