No More Schiano

The anti Gs crowd out in force. The defense is down to number 24 and number 55 playing with 24 getting calls for a second and 26 holding call and then failing to contain on the catch. Sure that may be coaching but when you’re down to that level of third string or more sometimes things happen. it was the defense and arguably sending pressure on that pass that you can blame, but the time out is a huge red herring and it was called well before that there was no push for a block in the kicker knew it was already a time out, conventional wisdom. Yes a heartbreaking loss, but the people that unearthed themselves and their biases here are really remarkable.

I understand that but he has had 5 years to build depth. The lack of understanding of the situation by backups is astonishing. They had 1 player on offense that could beat them and you allow a simple crossing route to go for a TD? An absolute disgrace. People are tired of the low level of play. Either get better players or start getting rid of coaches and eventually that will come to the top.

Today's debacle is just the latest demonstration of GameDay coaching malpractice. It may have been the worst coaching decision made by any college football coach this season. Schiano needs to resign or be fired for this total idiocy.
FIFY. Terrible, terrible decision, but c'mon, we were in position to beat #24 a 7-3 team, because of how Schiano has rebuilt the program. Even he acknowledged the TO was probably a mistake. It sucks balls. But we move on.

I'm sure I can't take reading all the negativism on the board, so this will likely be my only post tonight. Have fun folks and let's get to 7-5 next week.

There's nothing biased about criticizing a coach for calling and unnecessary TO for a 58 (or 63?) yard field goal in the last moments of a wind affected game. Ryan Day, Brian Kelly, or any other similarly paid coach WOULD NOT do that. That is not a player or NIL problem. That is entirely a Greg Schiano problem and essentially exposed him as a mediocre coach at absolute best.

Sure we have injuries. Who is responsible for maintaining depth though so that we still win games? Is the HC not responsible for recruiting anymore? Schiano said we have depth at the beginning of the season. Well then, where are they on defense?

The defense did the best for what they could be expected to do. They are part of the reason we lost of course. But Greg's call missed a big opportunity to clear the air on his coaching skills and win us a ranked game for once.

Fire him and you will 15 more years of a Flood/Ash type and no one on the board will be following Rutgers football because 1-3 wins will be the norm.

Fire him and allow a coach to take us to the next level. We have reached Greg’s ceiling. He’s trash

The anti GS crowd also wonder how are we going to get 2 more wins after losing 4 in a row. This loss is 100% on GS. But the fact that we “should’ve won” against a Top 25 teams means he is doing a good job. If we can hire a big name coach that’s proven, I’m all for it. But to take flyer on a maybe over GS, no thanks.

I haven't followed more than the highlights. As I understand it the beef here is Greg's TO was so late that it showed Bielema the kid couldn't make the kick.

And the D call after that. Not sure that’s GS or the D coordinator

Another idiotic take by the OP.

How confident are you guys that 6-6 seasons will be the norm going forward? How does recruiting, staffing, and boosters fit into this?

Edit: My position aligns closer with Jtung as I reread. I'm curious though as to what the consensus is going into next season.

Unless your name is Saban almost everything is a flyer lol.

Kelly not working out near expectations at LSU yet. Same for Riley at USC for the most part.

Herman was a hot name at one time and just fired at FAU.

Fickell a hot name hasn’t panned out yet at Wisc, if they don’t win next week it could be the first losing season in 20 some odd years for them.

It’s all a crap shoot, hot name or otherwise. No way to know for sure.

It all depends on the schedule. If we play a lot of the top tier teams 6-6 is acceptable. This was the year to get to 8 or more wins. But our Ru screw hit us with all the injuries.
