Not one public comment from Julie yet? Really?

They could have said that at a minimum , and could have supported Flood at the same time. Something like :
'The Kyle Flood we know has always worked in the highest integrity possible. We understand there might be an email sent that could have been against University guidelines, and we are investigating that. We hope that Coach Flood receives the benefit of the doubt from the media and fans until the investigation is completed. We hope that just a policy refresher is necessary if an infraction is found. If something else is warranted, we will address it at the appropriate time with the appropriate parties. Please respect Coach Flood as well as the student athlete involved. Coach Flood has our confidence, as he has earned it from his previous interactions with students and faculty. We look forward to completing the investigation asap.'

no that's a bad idea because IF for some far off reason Flood committed a very serious infraction then the school themselves would look bad and then would be flip flopping

you make no comment and wait...why so much angst among some people

Why so much angst? Ask O'Hara, hell ask the team, or ask Flood. BECAUSE OUR COACH IS LEFT OUT TWISTING IN THE WIND, WHILE BEING SMEARED BY THE STATES LARGEST MEDIA OUTLET.

GO CHECK THEIR BIG EDITORIAL THEY JUST PUT UP. SCANDALOUS !

how many times do we have to talk about this? Julie should do this...Rutgers should do that...the press can go suck...etc. It's an investigation of a compliance issue. No matter how minor it seems an infraction, because it is against university policy and a matter of compliance, it needs to be investigated and everyone else just needs to shut the hell up.

Wrong on the Baylor case, they are just now starting the investigation if Briles and the Football Dept knew or did not know of the convicted rapists past history at Boise St. The Florida program states they wouldn't touch this kid, yet Baylor claims they didn't know. Anyway, Baylor case is far, far from over, but their President & AD came out making statements and at least acting like Presidents and ADs should. And now few are talking about Baylor while the investigation proceeds, because their President and AD got out in front of the story (again the story was NOT so much the Rape, but why this guy was allowed in , in the first place.

Fair enough, but the incident is over. I think the fear is that Julie comes out and says Flood is my guy, and then another professor comes forward or another email turns up. This isn't Baylor. This is RU, where a significant chunk of the faculty would like nothing more than to take down the athletic department. Also, not for nothing, but no one is talking about the Flood incident any more either. They killed it by not providing any more information.

There will be another wave of articles when the investigation is complete, but by then it will be old news. In my opinion, its probably smart to not announce anything until the season is underway. By then everyone will be talking about the actual games, and old news about a non-scandal will be viewed as just that.

Dude, it's not the incident, it's the coverup. It's always the coverup. And the President and AD got out in front of the narrative.

Where's Barchi?

no he is not twisting in the wind. I am sure they have met with him privately and given him what he needs to continue to coach on game day and to assure the players. Its only the chicken littles who continue to click Nj.com and live and die with what they say and are bent of out shape that Pernetti is gone . You people are the ones freaking out believing Duggan, I bet you the team isn't.

I presume (and hope) there have been private discussions between AD and KF.

Given history of SL taking things out of context and sensationslization, no one in media "deserves" a statement beyond what has been released(e.g. The minimum ).

That said, I'd prefer to have it resolved soon.

You're essentially hitting yourself between the eyes with a 2 X 4 because it feels so good when you stop. Your right!!! It's the coverup. And that's precisely what the accusations would be if the President and AD tried to "get in front" of the narrative. The media environment here is a different universe than that at USC or Baylor. At USC it's essentially "no corpse, no problem". You don't seem to be able to grasp that.

The Baylor and USC Prez and AD care about the perception of the University, Coach and program. Ours simply don't know how to handle it , and in Barchis case, doesn't care enough. I do think Julie cares, but she has been muzzled, and probably for good reason.

Check out what Flood had to say today about O'Haras comments.

And I would suggest they DO know how to handle it. Once again you completely ignore the reality that the press the President's of USC and Baylor are dealing with is totally different that what Rutgers faces. What is it about "no corpse no problem" vs. the SL witch hunt that you fail to grasp? Different environments dictate different responses.

And in the case of USC there is no ongoing investigation, everyone knows what he did. It is not a question, that is not the case here.

It does not appear anyone has considered that Julie was aware of KF's multiple contacts with professors and took no corrective action---If so commenting could only make it worse for her.

No one from the administration should comment at all about this. No one other than the dorks at the SL gives a crap about the football coach trying to help his player earn a better grade. It's not like he enabled male children to get sexually assaulted by one of his coaches in the team locker room for 30 years.

All those posters who are worrying about us not getting out in front of the story are missing the bigger issue, I believe. No one except NJ.com even thinks this is a big story. Think about it. Flood's pushback forced the faculty union to make a statement, which was basically "oh, crap, we didn't want this to happen". If the email has even a whiff of intimidating content, the leaky sports departments of all time would have gotten that news out by now. Also, the comments beneath the NJ.com stories are almost 100% in support of Flood once you eliminate the known anti-RU trolls over there. No national news outlet has picked up the story, ESPN has barely even mentioned it, even on the B1G blog. So there are no heads to roll, no pounds of flesh to extract. So our administration is treating the story as the minor nuisance that it is.

Aside from being located in much different media climates, Baylor and USC are PRIVATE SCHOOLS. As long as they are not violating NCAA rules they can do whatever the fvck they please because they don't have to answer to politicos and the tax payers.

Politics, power, control and MONEY......this battle is not really about emails, grades, integrity, academics, competence, coaching, athletes or faculty.

I'm not sure who is leading the attack (Norcross?) But, this looks like a political gang fight over $$$$$$.

Again, this very well may explain why Julie has not and can not comment:
