Officials were awful

It was stupid he’s gotta know better but also not that a slam dunk penalty that every ref calls at that point of the game imo. The contact was started when he was still in bounds and he stepped out of bounds in the process of getting pulled down. There was never a whistle to call the play dead.

Didn’t help that it happened right in front of the Nebraska team.

Thanks for posting the video. I don't think it supports your view. The throwdown definitely happens out of bounds. The contact started in bounds but the throwdown does not. The lack of a whistle doesn't matter -- Abraham and the ballcarrier were out of bounds and Abraham had the responsibility of knowing that.

Thanks for the excellent replay. 1) It was definitely NOT a new move in throwing the rb down--same continuous tackling action started in bounds and 2) confirms the ref's whistle was after the player was thrown down. There would be no penalty if that occurred in the field of play, and 50/50 call at best as it was.
Of course there would no penalty if the play had occurred in the field of play. But it happened out of bounds, and was unnecessary to complete the play.

It was not a "new move" in the tackle as you first suggested, that is crystal clear. It was part of the tackle initiated in bounds. Sure, in theory the tackler could stop the instant he realizes--if he realizes--they are both out-of-bounds, but that's quite a stretch at game speed. Not sure what you're seeing but as you have already said, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Your opinion is far from consensus--check the replies.

You are correct- it wasn't the hit, it was where it was it was what Abraham did at the very end. Even if he was still spinning him in the grip and the kid went down, maybe not called but he gave that extra extra that was not needed even if in the field of play and certainly not on the sideline- dumb F-ng play in every way you van imagine.

Bottom line, train your players to look down to see where they are at. If you see your opponent on the white with you, let go. If you leave it up to the ref's expect to get screwed!

The woman referee was terrible. Two bad calls , including killing a second quarter drive . Again in the second quarter, the field judge with the offensive pass interference call that negated a big gain . Completely bogus and needs to be looked into by the league.
the late hit didn’t need to be called but they’re gonna call that every time on the opposing sideline .
THe BIG referees absolutely screwed us last night . But still no excuse to lose to that team in our building . We continue to be at rock bottom . Sad stuff
The week before pony tail did the Iowa game
2 controversial terrible calls against Iowa from her, announcers in that game called it out. I knew she was in our future same in this game called out as bad calls by the announcers

If it is called, it is a penalty. Don't give the ref's a chance to screw you. You never know where there sensibilities lie.

The on-field officials don't work in the "conference office" and aren't being told by any higher-ups which teams to help. You're giving them too much credit--they weren't making bad calls intentionally, they were just terrible officials.

Yeah just like the phantom ineligible receiver call on the fake field goal that went for a TD in the 2012 Louisville game, the ref didn't even reach for the flag until after the catch was made.
Next time I'll use a dozen of 😏

It was sarcasm.

So when Angel Hernandez calls a pitch that bounces off the plate a strike it is an actual strike regardless of how bad it missed the zone? Here we have been complaining about that pile of garbage all along for nothing.

This is so true, that bs opi cost us at least a possible field goal attempt--and I think we only lost by 1
Schiano gave that field judge a stern talking to after that . He was going after him and rightly so .
I didn’t see him yell at the woman . She should have got a similar talking to.
this is not politically correct but I think the coaches are easier on the woman ref as they don’t want to be shown on a clip on some talk show screaming at a woman ref.
When you have to go butter up a recruit’s mother , that ain’t gonna to over well

If it is called you have to live with it. Look I have been down this rabbit hole, last week I suggested Rutgers sue the BIG10 for a retroactive full share, if they were going to screw us over in officiating every week, even in key non conference games like BC. I didn't get any agreement on it, so I'm letting it go now. You can't fight city hall.

At least in football, you have more of a chance to take it out of the ref's hands. In baseball umpires can really dictate the game behind the plate ( 90's Braves) The penalties last night were pretty even good or bad. You have to coach up your players to know where they are at, at all times. If you pick up your opponent when he is out of bounds and swing him to the ground, you are going to be called for it. After all that is the track record of the ref's when you have a block R on your helmet!

The **** are you talking about? We are discussing whether things should be called, not the metaphysical reality of whether they were called.
“If it is called, it is a penalty” herp derp herpa derpa
No amount of complaining is going to change anything after the fact. Last night at least they were pretty consistent for both teams. If Rutgers administration is not going to take the crappy officiating up with the league, it is what it is.

They called it, so by rule it is a penalty. That is all.

Even the announcers said it was a bad call. Plus she constantly blocked QBs while the play clock was running preventing any type of hurry up offense.
You do realize that is standard operating procedure. If the offense makes any substitutions the defense is allowed to counter that. That's why they stand between the QB and Center until the defense makes the changes they want to.

It’s a discussion board. Why are you here?

A football savant you must be
Sorry you must have lost 💰, now leave me alone. Just because we see things differently does not mean you have to troll.

I’m going completely brain dead on ant TD canceled on penalty. Not arguing- I’m just having a brain fart. Which qtr? Which play? Thanks
Second quarter . Running play . I don’t know if he actually got in but it was down at the 1 maybe

You think I’m mad about calls against the team I root for because I lost money? What?

The officiating sucked. The lack of discipline from the players sucked even more. And the coaching by the Schiano/Gleason two-headed Hydra sucked, sucked the most of all.

If you don’t commit the foul, the TD would not be wiped off. Clear and simple
So Nebraska didn't get a TD wiped out, glad we got that straight so the penalties didn't even out. Also, you and the female ref need to reread the rule book. Because how Ireland Burke blocked that particular play is not considered a penalty by the NCAA.

Damn- wish I hadnt erased the game on dvr already- that is why I didnt remember because on replay- during the game- I did think it was the right call- if anyone has the play, could you post it? I would love to see it again.
The block right before the OPI toward the end of the 2nd QTR was an absolute legal pancake though. Should'nt have been called.

And their OL mugged us all game.

It was not a question of momentum. Abraham made a new move -- throwing the player down -- when already out of bounds. That's a penalty at any level of football.
Yes it is. Other than that we got Big Time hosed.
