He basically replaces Dean. I appreciate Dean's efforts but I have a feeling this kid will be at least a slight upgrade, especially on defense

Wolf may need to play some 4 out of necessity but it's far from ideal unless he added a 3 point shot to his bag this off seasonWoolfolk will play some 4 according to Twitter. With Mag recovering we can't rely on Hyatt to play all 40 minutes there.
Big, strong, and decent touch around the rim. Otherwise a project and probably a career backup IMO.
The 5 spot is upgraded for the coming seasonHe basically replaces Dean. I appreciate Dean's efforts but I have a feeling this kid will be at least a slight upgrade, especially on defense
Fishing pole for small frogsWhat's a podcast ?
I'm glad you brought that up and you probably have a better memory of his recruitment than I do. But if you place Hinson in today's environment, with AAU ball, camps, etc. do you think he would have been recruited harder based on his potential and his raw athleticism? Some of our better big man were raw. Hinson would have gone to Wagner if not RU.
I see what you did there. Enjoy the meal! 😃Fishing pole for small frogs
Does he understand the game well enough that Tim protection and rebounding will be much better? I’m skeptical. The 5 spot is upgraded for the coming season
Cliff who will be better than ever
Wolf - year 2 after shedding weight and just now starting to become a full time basketball player
Ogbole - size and length we missed last season. Dean and Wolf got abused all year when Cliff was out. Offensively, I only expect dunks. Defensively it's a big upgrade. Rim protection and rebounding will be much better than Wolf or Dean when he is in. Concern is likely too many fouls and probably TO prone since he's so raw offensively
Well, the coaches will have a summer with him then fall workouts. I think they will be able to convey what his role is. Now, how eager is he to learn that role and accept it is another question.Does he understand the game well enough that Tim protection and rebounding will be much better? I’m skeptical.
I was responding to a comment which seemed to be stating those two improvements as no brainers. I think it remains to be seen.Well, the coaches will have a summer with him then fall workouts. I’m hopeful but I also remember Agee and the fact that he couldn’t be on the court without us suffering big time. If he can play defense better than Reiber it will be an upgrade.Does he understand the game well enough that Tim protection and rebounding will be much better? I’m skeptical.
Ogbole is also significantly bigger. At minimum he won’t be thrown around like Agee wasI’m hopeful but I also remember Agee and the fact that he couldn’t be on the court without us suffering big time. If he can play defense better than Reiber it will be an upgrade.
Yes. I played with Roy. He was just getting started, not much offensive junior year, senior better, but could defend.I'm glad you brought that up and you probably have a better memory of his recruitment than I do. But if you place Hinson in today's environment, with AAU ball, camps, etc. do you think he would have been recruited harder based on his potential and his raw athleticism?
When he was a freshman, you could see the potential, but he needed to get stronger and develop offensively. Still one of my all-time favorite players.
Of course, in today's game, if Hinson went to Wagner and did well, he would've hit the portal at some point.
He's 6-10 with a 7'6 wingspan and a full grown man bodyDoes he understand the game well enough that Tim protection and rebounding will be much better? I’m skeptical.
Agee was like the incredible shrinking man. He looked smaller every time he was on the court. If he was actually 6'5 I'd believe itI’m hopeful but I also remember Agee and the fact that he couldn’t be on the court without us suffering big time. If he can play defense better than Reiber it will be an upgrade.
He’s going to be depth. I doubt he will be better than Reiber this year.
And it could be that everytime he attempts to protect the rim he leaves his man too soon and allows simple dump and dunk or that every attempt to protect becomes a two shot foul. I think you’re probably right but are too certain of what will occur in games. He's 6-10 with a 7'6 wingspan and a full grown man body
Dean and Wolf offer 0 rim protection so that one is a default. I can't imagine a universe where Dean is a stronger rebounder than Ogbole. Wolf can maybe use technique, but Ogbole is just a different level size and athleticism wise. Wolf is a below the rim player. Ogbole plays above the rim
I saw Cliff's highlights when he was a senior, comparing his film to Ogbole's I think Ogbole has much more skill set than Cliff did. I know Ogbole may be a little older entering RU than Cliff was but he also has less experience playing basketball. Some of our better big man were raw. Hinson would have gone to Wagner if not RU.
That was a great find.
First of all, this “kid” is a year older than Cliff is today.I saw Cliff's highlights when he was a senior, comparing his film to Ogbole's I think Ogbole has much more skill set than Cliff did. I know Ogbole may be a little older entering RU than Cliff was but he also has less experience playing basketball.
I think people will be surprised at how good Ogbole will be.
We're not asking him to be Cliff though.First of all, this “kid” is a year older than Cliff is today.
Secondly, the level of competition is poor. Cliff’s Roselle Catholic high school team could probably wax Monroe by about 40 points.
You may not be, but some others here have unreasonable expectations. As of right now he is the 3rd center on the roster, and is mainly depth. We're not asking him to be Cliff though.
I think he's going to be good. You may not be, but some others here have unreasonable expectations. As of right now he is the 3rd center on the roster, and is mainly depth.
And I hope that his knee stays healthy and that he's not prone to re-injuring it.. That could make a difference in his mobility and in how much he can contribute. You may not be, but some others here have unreasonable expectations. As of right now he is the 3rd center on the roster, and is mainly depth.
I really don’t interpret that from the comments. What I gather from the comments is that he may have more potential than most of us thought at first. You may not be, but some others here have unreasonable expectations. As of right now he is the 3rd center on the roster, and is mainly depth.
I gather he will not be expected to help mush this season, but once he gets developed he will be a good one.I really don’t interpret that from the comments. What I gather from the comments is that he may have more potential than most of us thought at first.
