just read the Ohio st. Board and they have offered a nj football player. He is apparently thrilled with the offer and is looking forward to his visit. Since this info is on a pay site, I can't get a name or any other data. Anyone hearing anything?

Does he want to play right away or redshirt and sit on the OSU bench for 3 years .

I understand this thinking, but college expansion is driving the gap between the haves and nots wider.

So. Go to one of the top 3 teams in each of the Power 5, sit for while, maybe play a little. Maybe get a conference champion ring.

Or. Play 3 years for the BCs, CUSEs, Indys', Purdues', RUs of the world...?

I am struggling to stay on as a college football fan now.

The fact we are trying to compete with the top B1G teams getting less than half the payout is a crime.

Dude you are so miserable on here. If following it makes you that depressing sounding then cut bait and pick up another hobby. Seriously.

I think HS people getting a free ride to a university would rather go out of state not only for the more bang for the buck but to also see the other side of the lawn. Rutgers should concentrate on Florida and PA for recruits.

I'm so happy our Big Ten blue chip brethren have decided to mine the crap out of our state--especially at a time when they know we get a much smaller payout--and then make fun of us for being bad. osu and Um should be throwing their weight around in florida to weaken the sec and the acc.

Osu and Michigan want the best players in the country. Who cares where they are from.

We've tried that before, it makes way more sense to concentrate on players in our own backyard. That's not to say we should abandon FL, we have landed some quality players lately like Grant, Harris, etc. Most of the good FL recruits already have tons of offers from decent programs anyway and this puts RU in tough contention, plus distance is a big factor as well.

So what. Ash is already way better at recruiting NJ compared to Flood, and this is a 2018 recruit that has not committed yet....a lot can happen between now and signing day. However, until we start winning consistently we're going to have to deal with the traditional B1G powers trying to mine our state of talent. Better times are ahead.

Totally understand you. Ash and staff has to sell the recruits on playing early and building a wall around their "home" state. Sure the Michigans and the OSUs of the world are going to come in and pick off the cream of the crop in NJ. Other programs face the same battle for instate recruits but are doing fine: Houston & PITT.

Less than Half? [laughing] Wait till next year when the new contract hits, we'll be making about a 1/5th of what the other members do. And we have to do that for another 4 years till we get ours. It's only going to get worse, as the gap continues to widen.

The gap will always continue to widen.... the rate of acceleration will just slow (maybe) when we receive full payout.

alumni of the top B1G schools just donate more.
