We've discussed this before but it's now official. "Sixes" lacrosse is the game that is going to be presented when it's an Olympic sport. Essentially box lacrosse outdoors.

A 30 second shot clock?
32 minute games?
The article didn't discuss possession after a missed shot.

With apologies to Brodie Merrill, this is intended to negate the USA's superiority in long stick defenders.

It also essentially lacrosse for those with attention deficit disorders. Of all the changes a 30 second shot clock is the clearest travesty.

Edited to add. The cost savings they mention is pure BS.

When you take a shot and it goes out of bounds, the other team gets it.

We live in an ADD society now. This certainly satisfies that. Bottom line is if you wanted to see lacrosse in the Olympics, this is the only version that was going to be accepted.

I find it curious that the dominant sport in the nations that want the 30 second clock is soccer.

I wouldn't insist that the NCAA rules be imposed on the Olympics, but if this is what they are setting up I'm fine the every four year World Games that have been around since 1974.

Mdk, Cali would know better than I, but I don’t think you would have to have a hockey rink to have indoor lacrosse. Just a facility/arena with stands and enough space for the field. I don’t think it was full size, but a long time ago Rutgers had an indoor lacrosse exhibition game at The RAC during the Winter. I think it was vs. FDU. All the stands in The RAC were pushed to the walls. Seating was only in the second level.

Indoor lacrosse (box lacrosse) has always been played in a rink. Both amateur and pro. The Philadelphia Wings used to sell out The Spectrum back in the 70's. Now in the winter, when teams are stuck with practicing in a field house, you can have half field or (if the space is large enough) small field scrimmages. But nothing official.
