One thing that bothered me last night about the Iowa game

I prefer players to just play the game. Garza flexed his muscles a few times during the game as well. He was over the top celebrating all night. He is an outstanding player but actions like his last night is what makes younger kids start acting foolish as well. I believe he will be first team All American but I hope we meet them again in Indy in the BIG Tournament.

Circle game is raciss.

Just wanted to mention I’ve enjoyed the conversation with you guys and wish Rutgers the best of luck the rest of the year. I missed the first 4-5 minutes of second half so can’t comment much on how uneven fouls were. However, the home court advantage in the BIG is real and I think every team has benefitted from it and it’s not right. Rutgers is legit and I’m happy we don’t play at the RAC because we’d be walking out of there with an L.

The guy has solid basketball genes. And high school coach is Lefty’s son. From his Iowa roster bio ...

Personal -- Born 12/27/98… pre-business major... parents are Frank and Sejla Garza… has one sister, Tesa… his father played basketball at the University of Idaho… grandpa, James Halm, played basketball at the University of Hawai’i… uncle Teoman Alibegovic played basketball at Oregon State and is the Slovenian national team’s all-time leading scorer… cousin Amar Alibegovic is a senior at St. John’s… family is from Bosnia and Herzegovina… high school coach was Chuck Driesell… AAU coach was Keith Stevens.

He acts like a jackass for sure, but is a great college player.

It's more like: He's a great college player, but he acts like a jackass for sure.

To be fair, he's not alone. These antics happen all the time. Kid's super emotional and was complimentary to RU after the game, but I could do without all the theatrics. But, to the victor goes the trash talk I guess.

You and me both. :Rutgers Pounding Nails

what are the probabilities we can punch him in the nuts and get away with it?

If it were football, and he was in the trenches. There's a high probablility he gets punched in the nuts if he's acting like a D*K.
hoops... not so much. :Laughing

If anyone watched Garza’s interview on BTN after the game, he was all class. Articulate and had a lot of praise for RU and coaches.

I could do without all the on court antics. The kid was on fire yesterday, could do no wrong. The 3s were painful. Lots of jawing both ways. I know he was amped up, big game. Should tone it down a tad.

I was thinking he was a d**k during the game (to be honest that had as much to do with the way he was kicking our ass as it did with his antics). But in the post game interview he was classy, well-spoken and very respectful toward RU. He's an intense, emotional and very good player. I look forward to seeing him play the rest of the season.

You beat me to it SleepingGiantIsAwake :)

Yes I'm sure Garza is openly displaying his white supremacist beliefs by flashing a symbol that we all used as kids. Give me a break!

Italian Bert is a little douchey but he's a hell of a player.

Watching Garza yell at our players (me being emotionally involved) and our bench after every made shot I wanted one of our players to cheap shot him.

I was ready to go out and do the kicking myself by the time the game ends. Really hated the guy. Then I saw the post game interview and thought "what a well spoken and classy young man" and all the hate went away.

I can't stand when that happens!

It's not a sign white supremacists use?
FIG, context is the determining factor, and a simple exercise in elementary logic might help put an end to this nonsense. Your argument is along the lines of, if anyone does anything that white supremacists do it makes them either a white supremacist or a sympathizer. So, a white supremacist went to lunch today, you went to lunch today, therefore you are a white supremacist. See how that works? Let's use common sense and (especially) decency before labeling someone something as serious as that to which you alluded.

Garza plays with passion and (much to our detriment last night) is a seriously good ballplayer, and he gets amped up during games. That's all that can be inferred from his hand gesture. Geo did the "gat" sign while waiting to check into a game last week--does this make him a mass-shooting sympathizer?

As for Garza turning to our bench and saying whatever he did, our guys jaw, too, and for all we know we may have started it. Don't know, don't care. It was a great game and I'm still stinging from not winning it, but I'm not going after their players for fantom shit.

We are being run / herded into mazes that White Supremacists want us to stumble and fall in. I'm tired of 4 chan, 8chan and Idaho in general.

The Sig Heil salute IS Racist. The Swastika IS Racist.

If we let those miserable low life bastards control what we say and how we act, soon the pledge of allegiance, and placing your hand over your heart will be considered an endorsement for Adolph et al.

The definition of "douchebaggery". His act went beyond being emotional and entered this territory.

I personally think any jawing or trash talking of any sort by any players against any player of the opposition should be t'd up. Every time. There really shouldn't be any room in sports for bad sportsmanship. It's just a damn game. Play the damn game and stop being immature. You start t'ing up all the crap and you don't get brawls after games.

But that's just my opinion.

lol. I didn't even know it was a sign of some sort. He was excellent except for that blowing kiss at Rutgers bench. Tough smart player. We need a guy like that in middle (ha, who doesn't lol)

You mean he was making the three point sign after he made a three pointer? Outrageous![/QUOTE]
I don't know why you're quoting me cause your post is messed up but I would suggest you and a few others doing the usual assumption thing go back to the top and look at the pic. I'm not weighing in on this but that us not the standard middle, ring, pinkie, with thumb and index in a circle.

I don't like it when players talk to the other team's bench after making a play, although there may be jawing from the bench too that just isn't seen on broadcasts.

Re: the OK sign, if the vast majority of society just continues to use it as it has always been used, then that is what it means. It is easy to find photos of many many NBA superstars flashing that sign after hitting a three to indicate "three". I doubt James Harden is a showing solidarity with white supremacists when he does it. Same with Garza IMO.
Omg..its not the ok sign he did. Not saying what he did was bad but folks need to educate themselves before jumping in.

And Fwiw...back in my day the upward now 3 pt. Sign used to mean...by finger backwards...".you're, an, a$$, ,,,and then the hole.
Maybe more appropriate then ever...

Well, I see it as an upside down OK sign. Yes, it may be from the stupid circle game. There is a picture of him making that sign with both hands in this thread. I thought that's the gesture some were criticizing in this thread.

That’s it. All I was saying is that is what white supremacists hijacked and it may be advisable to not do it.
