our transition offense has been bad.

Before the season he said the 1st 10 seconds are the players and the rest is his.

We are controlling the defensive glass, so....

Not all 5 go hard for rebounds. Ocassionally send players to run out on the shot. Have Corey ask for the outlet higher than free throw line extended. Players are not filling the wings.

Our strength, especially OOC, is Corey and Nigel. They have been in jail most of the season because of zone. Transition offense is the get out of jail free card. Hartford won't pound the O glass..,,let's get some easy hoops.

True, we got zero breakaway baskets in the first half last night. I think we had about 4 in the second half once our pressure took over. With our speed we should be able to beat the defense down the court more often. We are pounding the boards and a good pass out as you say should get us running more often.

Good point, we did have a few breaks this game. Maybe since we have had turnover issues we are making an effort not to force it yet. Let's see if it continues or we start running more as the team and coaches get use to each other strengths and trusts each other. Seems like right now getting the rebound and controlling the ball is being stressed.

If you want transition baskets, it has to come with a smaller lineup, which I think we can get away with, but you would sacrifice offensive rebounds and rebounding in general.

Thought yesterday was the best we ran off opponent misses all year. Think that aspect of the game will get better and better. With a team that doesn't shoot particularly well we need to get points in transition. BUT that wasn't going to be a focus until Coach P starts to see the defense and rebounding first. Baby steps.

Good point, Dick Lloyd said on last night's broadcast that Corey's half court sprint was the fastest ever recorded by an NBA metrics company! Time to take advantage of that speed.

I think that will come in time. I like the focus on having all 5 go for boards, and enforcing that rebounding / defense culture. Once that becomes second nature and instinctive for the team, I think he'll start working in some more of the transition stuff.

It will take more time, but in the end we will end up having more fast break hoops this year than the last 10 years combined.

Jeez be happy they were faced with adversity and delivered knockout punch
Basketball us so much about how a team matches up with another. Talent can be exploited by how you match up with another team

Happy thanksgiving pal

Think for now the coaches are emphasizing conservative on the outlet passes. I seem to see a pause before we throw the ball...

We have a month to work on this ...I expect more green light to be given

OP, your point is valid, but right now I am just happy to be able to enjoy a competitive team. One which will continue to get better.

Go Knights!

Exactly. The trade off for more breaks is likely fewer rebounds.
