How many different courses did you play this year? Of those, how many have you never played before?

What was the best course?

Best score?

Hole in one?

For me, played 12 different courses this year, four of which were new ones to me. Best course was Caves Valley in Maryland. Easily.

Best score was an 81 (Neshanic Valley Meadow/Lake).

Played much less than usual, but did get a chance to play Chambers Bay a couple days before the UW/RU game. Awesome experience. Greens were really deceiving.

Shot a best 76 and ended up as a 8.9. Did shoot one over for 9 holes though. Played mostly Mercer Oaks this summer. No Ace, still, after 31 years.

Prediction: Tiger will not win a tournament in 2017.

Best course winged foot. Followed by due process and the men's club of garden city.
Handicap 6.9 this year.

Played several new courses this year: The Ocean Course at Kiawah for the first round of 2016, three courses down in Florida, Navesink, Trump-Bedminster and The Ridge at Back Brook. Best course was The Ridge. The last 5 holes at the Ocean Course (into a very strong wind) were quite a challenge, although I did par the iconic par 3 17th. Didn't have a particularly great year scoring wise, only a few rounds in the mid-80s, but I never let the score get in the way of enjoying a round of golf.

The Ridge is an incredible course. Beautiful.

Played Bedminster several times (both courses). Great courses.

My first year actually playing, so every course was new. My biggest milestone has been going from horrendous to not making an ass of myself on the course...and outgrowing my boxed set of clubs to a bag that should last me quite a while.

No new courses this year but played some good ones and more rounds than I ever have in the past. Played Mid-ocean and Trump National Philly once each, Rutgers and Fiddlers a few times, 40+ rounds at The Ridge at Back Brook. Had a couple 85s but some WTFs too.

Played more golf than ever before in 2016, probably close to 100 rounds. Handicap index is a13.4. Best course was Dallas National. Really a special club.

Finished at a disappointing 15.1. Best round 85 at Hominy Hill. Best course I played was Ballamor down by Atlantic City.

139 rounds of golf
12 different courses
5 handicap
lowest round of 72 at Sunset Valley (I doubled the last hole to shoot two over)
best round 75 at Architects in first time playing course
best course The Ridgewood Country Club
Honorable Mention Arcola Country Club
Most rounds at one course 108 Sunset Valley
Best Rutgers-related round: Royce Brook East Course as a guest of the guy who sits behind me at HPSS. Gordon is a great guy!!!!!!!!!!
Best golfing buddy from this site: RUBigJ (HUGE RU fan and the nicest guy you will ever meet)

I played a lot of golf with wisr01 and he always kicked my butt. My best was 89 at Flanders Gold to Red.

Damn - 139 rounds. That's a lot.

Year #2 over here.

Played 10 different courses this year.

98 best- but continuing to improve.

Best course by far was WeKoPa in Arizona. Absolutely unbelievable place to golf.

Not to go too far off topic, but how many of you golfers have blades in the bag?

I do. Wilson Tour Special II. Same one for more than 30 years. Had the grip changed a few times but same ol blade.

The shaft is a shade longer than the original Tour Special which at 6-2 or so was better for me.

Which public courses in North/Central Jersey would you all recommend for a beginner (wider, more forgiving fairways)? I'm decent with the irons, total dog crap with the driver, and super inconsistent putting.

The Golf continues to be a world-renowned automotive success. The GTI once again scored Car & Driver's "10 Best List" and the range-topping Golf R is a legitimate sports car.

Played in all Fundraising golf this year. As I have for over 10 years now. Including a mutual one in the past.
Time is my biggest restraint. Free time is tough to play. It easier to ride miles on my bike than go play golf. Still love the game, can still play in the high 70s but will wait until I retire to play everyday like I used to.
Don't know if Tiger will win this year but hope he plays a lot and plays into contention on Sundays. Physically doubt he can do it anymore. Hope I'm wrong.

Have you played the Rutgers course? It is not long so can get away with using less than driver, etc. Not a difficult driving course either. Play the white tees which are rated at 65.6 slope 114.

Rutgers is a fun course to play. Not a challenge but an enjoyable loop to knock it around.

Exactly, great for a beginner and still fun for us old guys to be back on campus.
Back in my college days the front nine was easy except for 8 and 9. But with today's technology 9 isn't tough anymore. Hit it high over the corner and it's a half sand wedge. But still fun. No complaints from any skill set.
I do miss Whitey however. Great friend.

Two of the Somerset courses would fit. Spooky and Green knoll are wide open and don't penalize spraying the driver very often

Caves is a great course. I played a bunch of good ones this year. Bel Air is always a favorite. Others were Troone and Boulders in Scottsdale recently. Really loved both of those, especially Boulders. Also had a nice round at Poipu Bay in Kauai that was fun and the course was in really good condition.

No hole in one, though I played this week at Elk Ridge in Baltimore and came within a few inches of my first one. Not to be. I'll keep trying

Pretty excited about the golf game though. Heading to Titleist tomorrow morning to go through their fitting experience. Can't wait.

Slightly OT, however, I went to Top Golf this week in Edison. Incredible place, highly recommend it. VERY crowded at night.

Opened a Top Golf in Jacksonville around Thanksgiving. I've gone twice. Lots of fun.

Whitey was awesome. Back in the 80s, as a grad student, in chem eng'g, my roommate and fellow chem E, and I used to play Rutgers 3-4 times a week, since it was only $4, and many, many times Whitey would let us play another 9 or 18 without paying, as long as there was an opening, which there usually was (course wasn't nearly as well maintained then). Definitely a great guy.

Rutgers Golf Course designer:

I play Sunset Valley and Flanders Valley over a 100 times a year. Same designer as the Rutgers Golf Course. I suspected it before I knew it as fact. They each have a similar feel. Rutgers is the easiest of the three.
Did you ever play Bowling Green back in the late70s and 80s before they built condos?
How about Hawk Point or Ballyowen?
I have to have bring you to Montclair…you to Bus
