Lisa Goldstein wore the Scarlet Knight costume for its last two years and according to the October 1, 1976 Targum, “The old Scarlet Knight uniform saw its last action at the NCAA Basketball Finals at the Philadelphia Spectrum last March and is worn out. ‘It really gets hot inside that uniform. Last year at the Virginia Military Institute basketball game, I almost fainted because of the heat and the excitement. The cheerleaders had to put ice down my back and in my helmet to keep me from passing out… Right now, most of the buckles and straps are broken and the Rutgers crest is falling off. It just won’t hold out for another year.’” But the Alumni Association paid for a new one and “… should be ready to lead the cheers at the Columbia football game in three weeks.”
