OT: Antonio Brown

Something is clearly wrong with him. I had someone in my department leave in a very unceremonial way (the person used the expression "do you want to take this out into the parking lot?"), but at least it was only done in front of a couple dozen people rather than a couple dozen million people on TV.

I can't imagine another team giving him a shot now. Hopefully he can get whatever help he needs to start the next part of his life on the right foot.

Leave the poor guy alone. Has CTE issues. Hope he finds help.

People say he became a different person after he got trucked by Burfict on that vicious hit. Could be some CTE issues. Good chance you’ll never see him again.
That's what I said: he's never been the same since that hit from Burfict during the 2015 playoff game against the Bengals.

Took off his shirt and walked off the field mid-game. Seems a bit nutty, but we‘ve all seen far worse behavior from other NFL or college or HS athletes over the years.

If he is not mentally ill, this is a guy who believes he is bigger than his team and bigger than the game.
But his team was the defending champs. And his QB was the GOAT.
Obviously he didn't think so good.

Burfict was a dirtbag - the dirtiest player I ever saw - made Ndamukong Suh look like a Girl Scout. I watched Burfict play at Arizona St and it was so obvious he was a maniac I figured nobody would draft him - and they didn't (and he failed a drug test at the combine).

Then the Bengals - notorious cheapskates - signed Burfict to a meager contract with 1k signing bonus. By the time he was done he had five million dollars in fines. To me it looked bad that the NFL let such a conspicuous dirty player in the league for so long. He was a dirty player in high school. It wasn't like a random thing here or there. He was always trying to hurt other players

I don't know if I missed something here but why is everyone assuming that he has CTE issues? Is this based on a shot he took to the head six years ago. I believe I read somewhere that he was expelled from FIU for an altercation with law enforcement freshman year. He was fined by the league a number of times prior to the hit. This is just the latest a series of incidents in football and a number of encounters with law enforcement that this guy has had.
Could it be that this guy is just a jerk?

If RR was a few years younger some team would have picked him up. I know some disagree here, but if that was RR's 2nd or 3rd year in the league he may have had some time off, but you can't tell me the Cowboys (or some team like that) wouldn't have taken an RR in his prime.

AB has been deteriorating in front of our eyes for several years now (whether it's CTE or something else) but the truth is he was still very productive. I do think after multiple chances this is the final straw for him....he did go out in a very public blaze of glory. I feel bad for him - something tells me that several years from now we will look and say how was this allowed to happen? How was a football player who was obviously having severe emotional issues allowed to continue to play? This is obviously not the first time this has happened, but don't recall someone melting down as publicly as AB has over the years. This will potentially be a lot of egg on the NFL in the coming years if he doesn't get help and continues to deteriorate - hopefully it will enact some change and some guard rails for players like him who are spiraling downwards.

Yeah Burfict was bad news - several videos on Youtube with all his shady hits. NFL is a violent game, but gotta imagine nobody in the NFL circle really wants that kind of guy in the league - surprised there is not an unspoken rule against somebody like this, and that his behavior was not more self-regulated by the players. Only guy I saw give him a cheap shot was Smith-Schuster of the Steelers.

Well he is definitely unstable to quit in the middle of a game but It looks like he was mad that he wasn’t getting his 1mm incentive bonus and decided to quit.

People...

The Bucs generated this by freezing AB out....he had 3 incentives totaling 1M......one on catches, yards and TD.....he needed 8 more catches for 333K, another TD or 2 for another 333K and a 3rd one.

Tampa chose to play other WRs, knowing full well, AB wanted to reach his incentives and knowing full well, he would explode, because he is 100% unstable.

So they chose to play other WRs.....to suppress his targets and production to avoid paying him the 1M.....should the Bucs have used AB, knowing he is a pain in the neck and milked him all season.....and then essentially set him over the cliff.....

This is not justifying what AB did, but he was stewing on the sidelines....if you ask Brady or Arians if AB had incentives, they wouldn't deny it.....

AB decided to bounce instead and needs help....but the Bucs are as much as fault for coddling and babying....and enabling him.....AND to jerk him around on incentives.....just pay AB his incentives, instead of freezing him out 2 games from his goal.....

Players who choose to have their contracts filled with personal incentive based rewards run the risk of the team opting not to play them.
It was a constant point of contention during my career for players and has been going on for 50 years

You can minimize AB’s actions all you want, the fact remains he’s got serious mental issues that need to be addressed.
I pray he becomes a success story after getting the help he needs

The NFL doesn't really care... unless it's bad publicity or pending lawsuits against them. AB is just another replaceable part in the machine. As are all the other players with CTE issues.

All three spot on. The NFL only cares when they have to. Even the concussion protocol is complete camouflage. Can tell you first hand that players are told that if they get hit in practice, even if they can’t see straight, you get up and do everything possible to not let anyone see there is anything wrong. And if they get pulled for protocol- you better be a star on the team or you will be gone shortly.
They also do nothing for retired players.

They didn’t lock ittt! But yes AB has mental isssues he needs to address nobody in their right mind would do anything like that.

ala Ray Rice
Ray Rice got F’d worse than any NFL football player ever. Allegations of rape, no problem….Cruelty to animals, yawn….sexual assaults by the dozens, as long as on field performance remains high, no worries.
Ray went out in AC for a night with his fiancé and loses his job for good. Whoever advised ray was a complete asshat. With all the shit NFL players get away with he was one who paid with his job. Guy lost out on tens of millions of income and probably will end up divorced and in poverty at some point.

Story is that he said he was injured and wouldn’t go into the game. Arians basically fired him on the spot. So he walked off.

No, he is not “just a jerk”.

Lot of speculation here. CTE? The guy has always been problematic with his behavior. Incentives? You think the Bucs or any GM give a crap about a million dollars? The salary cap is over $200M. Plus, he has another game left to hit those bonuses. Plus, he was the one who didn't want to go back into the game.

Maybe he just has serious mental health issues.

He refused to enter the game twice. Coach told him to "get out" and he did.
I find it hard to believe that the real issue was a 1 million bonus. That is chicken feed to the NFL.
He cooked his goose when he lied about his covid vaccination and put the rest of the team at risk.
Probably does have mental issues but he also has had way too many personal ones.

But, don't be surprised if he still gets another shot in the league or is playing in Canada next year.
