Anyone have info/suggestions/tips on Beaches Turks & Caicos? Is it worth the extra $4K to stay at the Italian vs the Caribbean or French or extra $1,500 to stay at the Key West? How's the food? Thanks.

I prefer Grace Bay, beautiful accomodations, property and decent food. In general, the food at T & C is ok except for a few exceptions.

I thought the food was pretty good, sit down was better than the buffets, IMO.
The Italian was necessary since I have a family of five. If you don't need the room, save the money, the value is in the resort.

We just came back from Beaches Negril. What we've heard from people who have been there to Beaches Turks:Caribbean and French are getting run down. Key West and Italian are the way to go. Key West is the quietest.
There are 20 restaurant options at Turks. Two of them are also at Negril - Soy and Kimonos. Both were excellent; assume will be the same at Turks.

I stayed at Italian Village a few years ago...before key west was open. I think its a lot nicer...nicer (heated) pool, etc. Food is not great. If you have young kids, I think Italian Village is better because of the pool. Caribbean appeared to be getting run down when I was there a few years back...so I can only imagine if they have not renovated.

I was there about 4 years ago. Stayed at the Caribbean. It was definitely older than the other 2 properties, but I wouldn't necessarily say run down. It is also cheaper though. You can use any of the pools and restaurant. Great for kids too. If you are looking to control costs, I would recommend staying at the Caribbean and just using the other pools. It is only a couple minute walk between properties and all are connected. The only difference is the room you are sleeping in. Since we didn't spend that much time in the room, it wasn't that big a deal. If you don't care what you spend or want the nicer room, than go with the Italian or French villages. Overall, Beaches is great for families though. That is all you see will see there.

We are considering Beaches in Jamaica this Spring. It looks like they have 2 resorts there. Anyone have experience with either and how would you compare them against one another (as well as vs. Turks)?

We really love the Somerset on Grace Bay. It's a bit pricy but that keeps some of the crowds away. Exceptional, smaller sized facility. Wherever you stay look into a private boat charter that will take you around for 5 hours or so to snorkel, dive for conch, cook on a remote beach, etc. You can also take a sailboat out, which is great fun. There is one golf course if you need a golf fix (it's okay but not great).

My Sentiments match Ridge. I stayed at the Caribbean and while noticeably older, that is where we will stay when we go back this year. 90% of your wake hours will be spent on the property and everyone has access to everything outside of age restrictions. One recommendation is to talk with the concierge and sign up for the king crab dinner. I forget the restaurant but you can't order on-site, you have to order it couple days in advance and is not extra cost.

@Ridge22. I stayed at Ocho Rios a year ago. We had a great time there. It is much much smaller than Turks & Caicos...not as nice accommodations either. But it's still a great time. My kids were older this time (9&10 versus 3&4 when we went to T&C), so they were able to enjoy more of the activities this time around. One thing I will say is that you have a REALLY long ride to the Beaches resorts in Jamaica...not as long in T&C. This is a big disadvantage for Jamaica. Have fun wherever you end up going.

We went this summer with a big family group of parents, kids and grandparents for the second time in four years. Great time, never fails to disappoint. We were spread between the Italian and French Villages. Key West is nice but smaller and quieter. If you have kids, they will end up going to the other pools and water rides for most of the day anyway. Is it worth the extra 4K to versus Caribbean VIllage? I think most people think their both nicer but it depends on your budget and where you find value. I think for an all inclusive, the food is generally pretty good. The sit down places are better than the buffets, but the buffets aren't bad either. There's a lot to do but you can be as busy or chill as you'd like. Great place for a family vacation. We have a lot of friends that have gone multiple times and have yet to meet anyone who was disappointed and wouldn't go back. Have fun!

So it sounds like Caribbean is fine but older or not as nice but not a big deal since you can use the pools & restaurants all over the resort. Any other info?

The only reason I went to Turks vs. Jamaica was the bus ride to the resort once off the plane. Two resorts in Jamaica were, IIRC, 40 minutes and a little over an hour away. For Turks, the ride was all of 15 minutes, but I would guess that the Jamaican airport is much more efficient. LOL. At Turks there were 4 flights leaving within the hour and every passenger was in the same departure room at the same time, it got, err, WARM (to say the least).
