you could see the banding here and then the subsidence on either sides of the banding..haves and have nots
currently we are in the height of the storm for at least the next 90 minutes
im assuming those yellow echoes in south jersey toward the coast would be sleet or heavy rain but could also be a heavy burst of snow

I just drive from Elmwood Park to Freehold area.

Just do it once I don't see why people get all bent out of shape the driveway isn't perfect it's just you and your family that use the driveway unless you have people coming in and out all the time. If there's any leftover ice to hell with it. Just walked carefully.
My driveway has strange shapes so edficiency is important. Plus my shovel only gets 7 inches and i only have 3 batteries

Damn I shoulda coulda woulda made the party down there and been home before the worst; ~3 inches in my part of Upper Somerset County.
As of 6:45 pm we had 1.75" on the ground at 30F, so another 3/4" in the last hour and right now it's just puking heavy snow (likely >1"/hr rates). Just went out for a drive to White Rose because I love driving in the snow and, duh, we love us some White Rose on a snowy day. All secondary roads are snow covered and icy, while Route 1 was mostly wet, but snow was starting to accumulate on it.

As of 7:45 pm, we have 2.75" OTG at 30F, for 1"/hr the past hour and it's still heavy snow and is definitely higher ratio snow than earlier, as it's drier and has better formed dendrites, so I think we're going to get to 3.5-4.0" assuming we get another hour or so of decent snowfall. Just wish we didn't miss so much earlier today and for about 20 minutes about 90 minutes ago when we were in a bit of a snow hole with light to moderate snow when everyone around us had heavy echoes. It happens.
Made the first pass on the driveway with a push broom. Not that much on the blacktop, did not measure on the grass, maybe you have a bit more near the ocean.
reportedly all runways are closed at JFK, lots of accidents about and it sounds like the Lehigh Valley might be the snow winner with lots of 7-8" reports...
it should end around 10 in your parts go out and do it so you can sleep in tomorrow

Ha my kids don't allow for sleeping in. Was just curious if with temps dropping it would be a lot tougher to do tomorrow
Absolutely shovel tonight if you got some wet snow earlier, as the slush will freeze solid overnight and be much harder to dislodge. The bottom 1/2" of our snow was slushy/crusty and I'm pretty sure would've been solid ice if I didn't shovel it.
yes definitely tougher to do tomorrow as it will be in teens when you wake up and not getting higher than low to mid 20s with big wind
A poster just reported 1.5" there, so given another 45+ minutes of snow, I think you guy will get to 2".
Officially at the airport I'd be surprised by
2".
The 6am maps this morning had Philly getting 5.5"
At kickoff of the Eagles game there was nothing on the ground, cars... anywhere so I knew it was a bust for here....again. Some Montgomery areas hit 4" so it wasn't a bust everywhere.
