OT- Big Brawl at girls NJ HS BB game

Try getting out safely after beating Perth Amboy in the early 70's at their gym known as the bandbox and snapping a big home undefeated streak. You know terror when rocks are being hurled and you and your bus being rocked too all just because you beat a team on their court. This crap has been going on forever and unfortunately is just getting worse and worse.

why are so many of your posts about race? It's as if you want every discussion to be about racism.
While I don't particularly like to answer a question with a question, let me ask you this. How is my post about race when i assume you're saying that a post made before mine which read "who are they going to BLAME was not about race? Let's see if you're going to try act like who "they" are isn't obvious. It's also amusing how after days of racial innuenendo and coded language in more than one recent thread you zone in on something I said. But those were by your buddies with a like mind so it's all good right? LOL Never mind the number of posts saying how many of those comments were shameful and embarrasing etc. Well let me clue you in something. They weren't referring to posts by yours truly.

But you're welcome to post all of the things I posted about race that were not in response to something said or hinted at by one of your fellow denizens of the right. I'll be around.

Class of '77 here. Tom Young was the coach when I was there..... lol
Couldn't beat Linden. LOL Well occasionally when Billy Roberson and Greg Cook came along. Whatever happened to their program anyway? Was it all coaching. I thought his name was Dick Young though. Long time ago though.

No, it was pretty obvious who the Who was in his post. It's also obvious that if you look at his last 30 or so posts it's an outlier. the same can't be said for yours. As for my buddies, not sure what you a referring to but if you are trying to lump me into some group you consider racist you are about as off base as you can be.

Actually it wasn't. He made several similar or sarcastic racially tinged comments in the aformentioned threads from earlier this week. And once again I welcome you to re-post race things I posted that weren't prompted by something posted beforehand.

Yet I've never seen you post asking them why so many of their posts have a similar slant to them.
Probably because we don't see eye to eye on that "slant". You think anyone who doesn't believe in the free shit army, doesn't "Feel the Burn", like bigger women, or Beyonce sing are racist. While some of them most definitely are racist I think it's a much smaller number than you want to believe, especially regarding posters on this forum. Finally, since you probably haven't read all 19000 of my posts, I'm pretty sure you have no idea what I have questioned people about.

Who beat Perth Amboy at their place in the early 70s ?
Was it a Gary Brokaw-led NB team ?

BTW, Camden was always #1 in the "watch your back" department...unless things have changed lately.

All these anecdotes are very interesting , the point of my original post, is that this was a
Girls Game ! Maybe I'm naive, but I thought girls (and their dopey parents) would be a bit more civil than a HS boys game.

I didn't read the article but I saw something about ref's being attacked and parents arrested after a hockey game at Ice World recently.
Stop making stuff up. That wasn't posted on here. Besides that doesn't line up at all with the kind of demographic that would attend such an event.
Clearly you have never been to an athletic event where a team from Howell was competing. First time I experienced Howell-abama was many years ago during a Little League baseball game. Parents were jerks (like REAL jerks) then and I have seen it continue at HS level events too.

And Howell is neither of those.

Exactly. Which is why it's kind of ironic that you seem to be throwing the racism attack out there due to someone not seeing things the way that you do. The very label that the members of the right wingers club often push back against on this site. By the way what exactly is the "free shit army?" What in the SI cover thread had anything to do with race when all of the women discussed are White? LOL. Who said anything about anyone not liking Beyonce's music being a racist. I don't like to listen to Taylor Swift does that make me a racist? Don't be a clown. In fact who said anything about her in regards to race at all other than the ones you often side with who actually called her a racist because she dared to take a stance on something. One that they didn't like. Again.....ironic. If one thing that's obvious it's that your own bias is showing because again you haven't pointed to one thing I posted in any of those threads that was about race; unless as I said it was as a result of something posted by someone else. Yet you either ignore or would deny that there are often topics bought up on here(but never by me) just because they're racial hot button topics that will provoke a lot of those Black people this and that posts. Or when is white history month? Are the I guess "it's time for another million man march comment" by the same guy who you claim had only one other post like that so it was an outlier.

How about this post in a RT thread about a Michigan QB commit.
Well if inner city Black kids read the free board here of late that could be an eye opener for them as well in terms of what kind of people they'd be playing in front of at RU. Hopefully they don't formulate their opinions based off of that.

LOL, Yea, I remember Howell from youth soccer days. Its like going to Mississippi

Agreed. Some of the views on this thread are polarizing, ridiculous and tinged with racism. We can do better.

The worst I ever ran across in the years following my kid thru travel, CYO, AAU, and high school were the adults who followed a certain well to do Morris Co CYO team. They had such a bad rep that it was the only time they had a cop at the game. A freekin CYO game and yet it got so bad the ref's threatened to stop the game if they continued the verbal assault on the other team.

This is an admittedly horrific event. There are thousands of games between african american girls and boys that are played with nothing but proper decorum for every one of these. Instead of turning it into some cataclysmic event can't we just punish those involved and use it as a teaching event instead of making silly remarks like my distinguished friend Cali made.?

I'll let Brumfest answer that, but I did watch Brokaw vs. Shumate in the state playoffs...that was tremendous!

I'm done after this but your response had nothing to do with Kyke's comment. He simply said he didn't see what inner city kids saw in rural campuses once you removed football. Your response was to say our board is full of racists so hopefully recruits done read it. Some reasonable responses would have been "some kids want a different experience, all kids are different, or I agree with you." But no, you went with the everyone is a racist rant.

Not exactly "racism", but I bet Kbee gets a boner reading that one!!! :-)

Silly? Now, it was said in jest that this basketball game would have an impact on how Zuckerberg would feel about donating his $100MM, but rest assured, he ain't happy about it. Worst investment ever. Some pockets were padded in that exchange, along with the over $1 billion budget (yes, you read that right) they have every year. It's a travesty that no amount of money would fix.

Wow. If you're going to use his quote you might want to use it accurately. Not that i'm surprised that you left out parts of it. What he actually said was inner city BLACK kids! And it wasn't about urban vs. rural either. He went on to speak about zero diversity and how he couldn't see how they'd feel welcome at those places. My response was to say that some might feel the same way at RU if they read some of the posts mocking Black history month etc. or chastising the current social consciousness movement that lines up directly with their peers of the same age who might not be 3 or 4 star recruits. I know those type of posts were made by a certain faction. So where was the everyone is racist rant that you speak of? Good thing you're done if the best you can do is fudging the truth to fit your narrow perspectives.

It was the small Catholic High School St. Peter's of New Brunswick but Perth got their revenge on us blowing us out at the Rutgers Barn in County Champioship.

Sorry - thought you meant Rutgers... lol

John Somogyi and co. ?
Good choice Kbee but no, John was playing around 1968 and St Pete's won a State Champioship with him. The Cardinals team that beat Bill Bugloski's Panthers was led by Petey Clark, Jack Cipot and Jimmy Flemming to name a few. All 3 guys were 3 sport athletes and i still see Jimmy at R U football games.

Was that vs. the Blake Taylor/Chad Kinch Panthers ?
My point really was that very few schools beat Perth Amboy...especially at their place..... back then.

BTW, I actually saw Brian Taylor...later of Princeton and N.J. Nets fame...score 84 points in a game for P.A..

The Blake Taylor/Chad Kinch Panthers were '75

I remember just laughing out loud when someone told me about that gift. What an idiot. He had no idea what he was doing, and apparently none of his advisors did either. He could have done so much good with that money. Could have saved thousands of lives. Instead he gave it to literally one of the only places on earth where it was guaranteed to make no difference at all. And anyone from NJ could have told him that.
The money didn't go to the Newark Public Schools.

I think it was Lou Pennyfeathers team but Blake Taylor may have been a freshmen back then and starting but not sure. Your right that nobody beat them back then and the home winning streak was a long one but the great long time St Pete's coach went into a 4 corner stall in that small bandbox and it worked to perfection but the almost riot afterwards outside was completely unwarranted.

Well, it did and it didn't, but that is exactly my point. Anyone who thought throwing more money at fixing Newark schools was going to make a difference, was an idiot. In fact, the only measurable benefit from that gift was the money that made it out of the public sector to the charter schools.
