OT: Elder Millennials Unite!! Pop Punk nirvana is real!!

As someone who got into punk in the late 70s, I think you're being a bit narrow-minded with regard to what punk fans (and punk bands even) think about pop-punk or other genres of music. I know that punk was in some ways a response to the overly complex and self-indulgent nature of much of prog/classic rock, as well as the formulaic nature of much of the pop of the time, stripping things down to the emotional essence of loud and fast rock and roll, but it also built on some of the great music from earlier times.

Also, liking punk didn't necessarily mean one would thumb their noses at pop punk or other genres. A perfect example was the Ramones, who have unassailable punk credentials, but they were, at heart, the Beach Boys with louder, faster beats and more distorted guitars - the Ramones were huge Beach Boys fans and underneath all the noise, wrote great pop songs (with one of their best covers being a Beach Boys song, Do You Wanna Dance). And look at all the punk/alt all-stars on the Carpenters cover album.

I love all kinds of music, even if punk/alt/indie are kind of my "home base" - and I'd say most of my friends who have somewhat similar tastes in music also appreciate many other genres. I, for one, would love to see this tour, especially as Green Day and Blink 182 are a couple of my favorite bands and I like most (but not all) of the others.
We learn a lot about NimberSan on this board lol

Possibly the best festival in the history of our species has been announced.

When We Were Young 2023
I was at the best festival in the history of our species many, many years ago. It was called Woodstock. I also attended several others that were excellent back before most of you were born.
Today's music for the most part sucks balls.

I don't wear glasses. I have a full head of brown hair. And I smoke too much ganja to be grumpy.
I have a record collection and a CD collection that impresses most 30 and 40 year olds.
I still listen to new music and buy the occasional CD. There's just not much of it around. You'd be surprised how unimpressive most of today's stuff is to someone who's been listening for about 60 years.

Rage is done. Zach has some sort of injury. Plus they had to change their name to We Love the Machine. They also had to change lyrixs from " F you, I won't do what you tell me" to "F those that don't do what they tell you." Poseurs
Zack has a leg injury, he’ll be fine. They cancelled the euro tour so he could recover. Where the heck are you seeing ‘We love the machine’?? That’s not a thing… at all. As for changing lyrics, they added a verse attacking the Supreme Court after roe v wade… why is that a shocker? Seriously it makes me chuckle seeing people get all up in arms just now over RATM. It’s like ‘hmm so you never actually listened to them prior?’ Lol

somebody in here might remember this defunct club in Trenton where there were so many good shows

frost atm near me
Looks like the City Gardens building to me on Calhoun St. Many, many fun nights there seeing bands. If you don't have it, you might want to pick up a copy of No Slam Dancing, No Stage Diving, No Spikes, an oral history of the venue, the people, the bands and the shows. It's a great book for any fan.

Why would you say that? Are you telling me you didn't like Kerplunk, Dookie or the next few albums after that?

To be fair maybe he made a mistake. It happens when you post literally 140+ times in the past 24 hours...it's likely been a traumatic few days...

When I saw the thread title, I thought somebody had unearthed some previously unknown Nirvana pop-punk tapes.

It almost makes me want to sign up for that board again, just to see the meltdown, especially now that it's pretty clear the dems will hold onto the Senate regardless of the GA runoff. Almost.

The thread titles are epic. It looks like some of them are actually coping by posting less.

The thing is if we were on there and bumping threads with their pre-election predictions we'd be banned in seconds.

House is gone delaying the inevitable. Biden locked up.

You should really come back. A lot of your threads about Covid have been popping up showing how bad some of the takes were. It's really something.

Biden locked up, lol - we both know who will actually be locked up. And my COVID takes were mostly spot on, including some very prescient predictions. I'd repost them, but I don't think the mods want that. Life is much better not having to argue with morons like you regularly.

Yea, Biden. Not sure who else you could referring to considering he's the so called President.

"Mostly spot on" lol.

Yea, like mostly peaceful riots.

Don't worry, the receipts are all over the board. It's quite comical actually. Almost as funny as your Asian bush fetish that you posted. You should go look at some of them. It might change the unwarranted high opinion you have of yourself.

Including the ones where Cali said the R's were going to win the Senate, lol - even after Tuesday, when it was obvious the dems would hold on, regardless of GA's result. So sad for them that they so badly underperformed expectations - and the House still isn't a given for them (but is likely). The take home message is that Trump is toxic, as is election denial and the reversal of Roe didn't help either - if the R's had just run on the economy, we likely would've seen that red wave.

Edit: as expected, Cortez Masto was just declared the winner in Nevada, meaning the dems have retained the Senate, regardless of the outcome of the GA runoff. Very few expected this before the election.

My personal favorite is either them claiming the first Muslim Senator or thinking they were going to have 54...courtesy of America's worst former mayor.

And the threads about the blurry former newscaster and school boards when none of them (thankfully) have children or live in the states in question, just gold

The funny thing is he's yammering about locking up, lol, they won't have the votes to anything they want, it's beautiful
