OT: Electric vehicles

you just know the democrats are going to **** this up….royally!
Sorry, but as always, I'm not interested in choosing sides or playing the blame game.

Both Rs and Ds in Congress or the White House have been screwing up stuff for as long as I can remember. And I see no reason to expect either side to do any better anytime soon.

So I'd rather focus on discussing the specific issues without falling into the hypocritical and psychotic abyss that is political/ideological demonization.

I have said this in a prior post but I live in S FL( fortunately n the east coast). I purchased a PHEV with 40 miles of range that covers 90/95% of my total driving BUT also has a gasoline range of 550 miles that would go a long way to cover an evacuation situation.

I could not imagine myself if I lived on the west coast sitting on I 4 or I 75 in gridlocked traffic watching my range go down right before my eyes.
There is no compromising with the Glo ball, EV, climate change nutters on this board. You either subscribe to their world view or you are a climate denier, vaccine conspirator, or fascist; take your pick. LOL!

I can see the phev argument for longer trips and your driving situation, it makes sense. As far as the evacuation, Ev’s don’t use power while idling so you’d be ok sitting in traffic.

Yeah, everyone else in the thread are the unreasonable ones 🙄

Most of us don't even own an EV and def couldn't care less if you do.

But there a few on the board that want to tell us that EVs are the only way. If you do not believe the propaganda, then you are a “climate denier”. There are some who want to tell you what you can drive.

Yeah, no there aren't. I mean, there will be. But not now. And even if there were, it'd be for nought.

Unlike the republi-holes, who would be yelling "muhhhhhh freeeedumz" with their last breath before choking to death on poisonous air.
I grew up with more poisonous air in the 50's & 60's than we have today. It's not even close. Black smoke coming out of trucks, busses and every factory along Rt 1 from Princeton to Jersey City. White cigarette smoke coming out of every adult person that I knew. There were trash cans that we used that had holes in the sides that we used to burn our household trash. And then there were the times we would follow the mosquito spray fogging truck on our bikes in spring and summer evenings.

Next thing you will tell me you drank out of a garden hose! How are you even still alive? LOL!

No doubt. Which is absolutely the point.

When people talk about drinking out of the hose, that's just potable water outside, no? Or are you talking ag water?

I am not so sure of that especially with the AC going. I was in a Tesla on an Uber trip and the range did go down as we sat in traffic with the AC on.

I fully agree that PHEVs are not for everybody but with the current range issues of Evs and the current state of the non Tesla public charging system for someone like myself who has the ability to charge in my own garage PHEVs are the way to go.

I know the climate change people on this board desperately want us all to believe their is Global Warming and there may be but I do not believe it is man made. The world climate was warming way before the industrial revolution was happening, in fact this most recent "warming cycle" started tens of thousands of years ago before humans were even a factor on this planet. We know from Ice core samples from the poles and other physical evidence over the whole world that the planet has gone through several warming and cooling cycles over miliions of years. This is just the latest warming cycle and at some point we will get a cooling cycle.
Here is a picture of Sydney harbor from 140 years ago and today. There is no change in the mean sea level in that period of time. Also we have the Obamas who bought a $10 million house on Marthas Vinyard. Mr. Climate change doesn't seem too worried about his island sinking into the ocean.

The climate has been warming since the peak of the Laurentian glaciation.

The rate at which warming is occurring has accelerated in the last 100 years.

Also, your photo analysis skills are poor. If you examine that picture closely you can see that the mean high water marks on the base of the lighthouse are not the same - the current one is higher than the historical.

man, i thought the russians were busy with other things right now. guess message board spamming is a different military unit.

now...back on topic. i'm not a fan of SUV's in any format, but this does look pretty good.

It's World EV Day (previously postponed because of queen's passing).

I invite @BROTHERSKINNY and @RUTGERS95 (what's with the caps, boys?) to join me in a celebratory toast!

Prost!!

TBH, I dislike all these made-up "holiday" type things. Like the recent "National Daughter's Day". Or "Father's Day".

I love my daughter and I think every day should be "daughter's day" or "father's day" or whatever. I just don't think we need formal declarations of such days.

Bah humbug!

A toast to EV's!

While I do not think they are more environmentally friendly than ICE vehicles I have absolutely no problem with people who want to buy and drive EV's. What I do not like is this push by the democrats to make everyone drive EV's by jacking up the price of gasoline by limiting supply.
