OT: Four Maryland players enter portal

Do any teams have a full returning roster?

I would be interested in watching that program.

standard move now and most programs will see multiple players hit the portal.
Losing a coach or playing time used to be the main reason to leave, but now it's seeing what kind of NIL money will be offered is the reason for hitting the portal.

Did you graduate Rutgers?

People seem quick to criticize players for not caring about the schools themselves.
But then people seem pretty quick just to drop their team (and likely alma mater) just because rosters are turning over more frequently.

Syracuse could return every players every year and win 4 straight championships.

I'm still caring about a Rutgers team of all new players losing every game than even the slightest bit about Syracuse.

Name on the front is infinitely more important for more than the names on the back.

There's over 1000 guys in the portal . Aren't there only 360 or do di teams,?

I am Rutgers alumni, yes!

Rutgers basketball is my team first and foremost.

I also think that in this new market right now, any team that can hold onto a roster and go about it seemingly, " the right way." is a team I would applaud.

Why can’t they do multi-year contracts? This movement every sucks.
I was wondering that too. If they get paid NIL money, maybe they should be contractually obligated to stay with the program. On the other hand, if they’re unhappy with the program, they could just not try hard and laugh and mug for the cameras and be a problem teammate.

There are ways to avoid a lazy player. Make the deal performance based. Everyone loves upside. Could be statistical or team based bonus on number of wins. Have a clause where either party can have a buyout. Plenty of lawyers on this site can figure that out.

If I’m a donor or school NIL collective and I’m looking for actual ROI I’d 100% set up a multi-year contract for transfers with more than one year of eligibility left. I have to imagine the model migrates to this, it won’t solve all problems but will help with some of the volatility in rosters.
