OT: Game of Thrones is back tonight

My wife and son love GOT, so I watch with them, but I could take it or leave it. However, Silicon Valley, which is on right after GOT might be my favorite show on TV (either that or Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

I think "Always Sunny" goes way too far at times. Pushing the edge is one thing, but they drive over the cliff far too often.

Silicon Valley is great.. and having worked for a couple Silicon Valley companies at the height of the dotcom bubble, it really hits home.

But I am total nerd for GRRM and GoT. Read a good amount of historical fiction based on the time periods in English history that GRRM seems to use as his launching point. It is all positively Shakespearean... in the best possible way. As GRRM says it, he likes to let the audience know that he is playing for keeps.

John Snow is still very much as dead as anyone could ever be.

These 1st ep tend to be "where are they now eps" things should pick on next week.

Also the Red Woman looks different without her make up on or is it just me?

The final scene was kinda strange/confusing as it implied Melisandre's necklace was magical and kept her looking youthful... but... in previous seasons, we have seen her naked/without the necklace:

Is this a simple production continuity error, or is something else going on?

Hmmm.

Watch the scene again, note the magic potions that the camera zoomed in on, it was clear that was what she was using to look young.

Back around 2002, I used to run into Pete Dinklage all the time in Hoboken. I believe he was living here at the time and id always see him at the Whiskey Bar. Who would have thought he'd go on to become what he has.

Yeah. Perhaps her youth potions require royal blood as a component, and she is sorta screwed now that Stannis is dead so she is conserving/rationing her remaining potions.

However, don't discount the importance of the necklace because go back and watch the scene again and notice the mysterious glow emanating from the jewel in the necklace.

So... perhaps it is a combination of both the necklace and potions?

Yeh you probably thought he would have a very short career :sunglasses:[jumpingsmile][laughing]

I thought it was the necklace as well when I saw that red jewel glow. But Scourge brings up a good point about the potions, why show her looking at them and then she grows old. But also right after she takes off the necklace(red glow)) she grows old as well. I don't know which it is now. I must say although I hated Theon, I'm glad he's not getting the shit kicked out of him any longer.

Red's nude scene was intense. Among all the kings, queens, power, mysticism and opulence that make up GOT, there's the stark reality of life, everyone will get old if they live long enough. It will happen to you guys and your wives too!

I thought is was a good episode. Brought us back to where we left off last season. Expecting this week's epi to be great.
What kept pissing me off about last season was when they kept bailing on Arya's story. Looks like now they are covering that part of book 5 in season 6. For the rest, those of us who have read the books are for the first time in the same boat as those who haven't. No idea what's coming...

Snow is back, the Red Queen did something to him when she touched the body and her sceen of going to bed had to have some purpose of transfer her powers to him.
I agree, thinking this drained her of some power, hence the sagging tit syndrome, lol.

Yes.. sounds right.. maybe she has to sacrifice something in order to resurrect him. She seemed reluctant and yet resigned to her fate when she saw Snow dead.

My other thought was that mirror in her room did not get much use.. was not taken care of. Perhaps she did not care to see what she looked like... but now, having to see her true form, she decided to take a long look.. perhaps seeing what she was giving up before she did so.

But a whole lot better without her clothes on... I had no idea Peter was from Morristown, NJ! WOW. (now I get it and see the Jersey in him) :)

Yup. His brother is a violinist and came on stage to play during Rush' last show at The Rock. Also they used Peter's face(s) and voice during the "Roll The Bones" montage. Great stuff!

Am I the only one becoming disappointed with the ridiculous amount of clothing Sansa wears?
