As a 49ers fan having seen him in action every week, he's as good a coach as there is out there, it's not just his recruiting ability. He gets the best out of his players. Only thing is he doesn't do the politics, which is what happened in SF because Jed York was an immature, spoiled little boy back then and Jim called him on it. He's probably learned how to deal with it better now having been at Michigan.
Harbaugh Brothers learned the coaching and leadership skills well from their dad. Chargers are going to be legit threat very soon, they already have the QB in place.

If the Chargers start winning, it wouldn't surprise anyone. First they got a HC that has a history of turning around bad teams (not primed teams!) and they have the 1 thing you need to win in the NFL...a QB.

Harbaugh's University of San Diego job might be an exception to the lousy records rule.. When Harbaugh took that job in 2004, San Diego had finished 8-2 the year before, and were co-champions of the Pioneer Conference North division... The previous coach was fired for alleged behavioral issues.

Stop. The school never had double digits wins and he won 11 games two years in row and after he left haven't repeated 11 wins. I know people hate Harbaugh but to not admit he is a game changer is just stupid.
Wow.... I was just pointing out a fact that the University of San Diego didn't necessarily suck when Harbaugh got there. Nothing I posted was intended to suggest that he wasn't a great coach, or that the team was highly successful for an extended period of time before he got there..
And I know that San Diego didn't reach the 11 win benchmark that you mention again, but I'll give them credit for finishing as either the league champion or co-champion in 10 of the next 15 seasons immediately after Harbaugh left.. It's not like they became the perennial doormat of the league the minute he walked out the door. But please don't get offended by that. He's obviously a brilliant coach.
I'm not offended by much. Sorry if I put you in the gang that hates Harbaugh. He is a weird guy but he certainly can coach.
Have to laugh at all the Harbaugh experts here. Harbaugh is great, Harbaugh is lucky, Harbaugh is a crook, Harbaugh is overrated, etc. Let's just wait and see. He'll have some stud players, but also a number of aging veterans and little cap space. Nobody here knows any more than the next guy.
He's got a top QB young though.
That kid has Super Bowl title all over him - and Harbaugh was a QB (for Charges to boot) and knows how to coach the spot. Harbs and Herbert are a great foundation ("Harbert"). A great coach and QB are all you need to get a great start
Harbaugh has already been successful in the NFL. I expect him to be again
