Verizon advertises it for $70 a month but that does not include tax and fees and equipment. So what is the real cost? Is there an option for just phone and internet, no tv?

For that matter how much is satellite internet service? It satellite internet reliable? Again I don't need tv, just internet and phone service.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

BAHAHAHA!!

Sorry, layup. Had to take it.

I have verizon fios for phone, tv, & internet (75/75). I have an HD package, but no premium movie channels (HBO/Showtime/etc...), one HD DVR. My bill after all fees & taxes is $141/month.

Did the comparison recently. Got lots of boxes. Dropped a few channels, but went from 225 at cablevision to 165 with much better internet.

I have the triple play option with 100 Mbps and one of the basic TV plans (I mostly watch football and CSPAN. NFL and B1G comes with the basic. Only thing missing is CBSCS). I pay around 125/month. I was going to just get internet and TV but wired phone with taxes etc was only $8 more. Verizon is trying to make wired phone more popular while sticking you for other things.

Good subject

So what do they add-on to the advertised $70/month? I hear that taxes/fees are much higher than Cablevision/Optimum taxes/fees? Plus Cablevision/Optimum has all of those free wifii spots......

50/50 up/down + basic TV is $58 all in a month for 12 months. Then it'll climb by $10 (NYC)

159 month for TV/Internet/Phone with HBO/Showtime and 5 boxes, lower speed internet since I don't download lot of movies or music

This is like asking what you paid for your car. It's an almost irrelevant question with all the different options and whether you are on a new customer promotion, etc. Be happy that if you live in a Fios footprint you have a leg up on getting a much more competitive price than all the others that can only play the DirecTV card against their cable provider.

Just go to their website and configure what you need. Toward the end of the configuration, but before you pay for anything you can get an estimated monthly bill which includes taxes.

That is a good idea

I never had cable so I can't compare. Consumer Reports lists the gotchas here>

Beware triple-play TV bundles costs
Advertised low-cost service rates may actually be much pricier

With Verizon you need to keep track of your bill because Verizon has a knack for slicking things in. They update their user agreement more than anyone I know. I'll find speed increases and added costs I didn't specifically ask for.

Never rely of Verizon email either. They have the most horrible site on the web. You can end up being asked to reset your password 6 times trying to get in. I still can't update my card info after a year. The site is just a constellation of spaghetti code Verizon can't untangle but they keep adding and adding to the mess.

Fios for us $185 per month triple play. We get all channels including premium movie channels. 3 tvs. 1 multi room dvr. We signed up when it was free dvr for life...

I'm paying $137 per month for my triple play from Cablevision/Optimum - 50/50 and Starz/Showtime.

Not sure the Fios deal is any better.

We pay over 125 with just about every premium channel for 3 TV's. I also have DirecTV for Sunday ticket. I've seen Optimum, Comcast, DirecTV and Fios...and I must say the quality of Fios is 2nd to none as far as picture.
