MBB's start of conference games was not very promising. The twenty point loss to Wisconsin, along with the Sander's injury, does not bode well for the rest of the season. Although the team has shown improvement, they have a long way to go. The 11-2 non-conference record appears to be an aberration.

well hopefully we can go at least .500 in the conference and have a shot at dancing

I mean we were the only B1G team without a top 100 win (KenPom), so that tells you how bad the schedule was. The plus is we didn't have any WTF games

The OOC was probably intentionally made easy, as no one expected a winning season or tournament appearance this year. We still could win a couple of conference games though.

an "aberration"? Wisconsin is a Sweet 16-type of team. Maybe Elite 8. They were favored by 18/19 points depending where you looked. Not sure what you were expecting - probably way too much - but IMHO a tad overboard with this post.

Wow that was a quick jump off the bandwagon OP.

So far RU has beaten every team they should have and lost to better teams, all on the road btw.

Losing to a Top 15 team at their place where they have a long winning streak is no embarrassment. It is more important RU show they can beat some teams they're closer to equal to. That along with not stumbling to a beatable team in the OOC will show the improvement any reasonable fan would hope for.

No one should have thought this team was Tourney ready based on the results up to last night and nothing has changed. An overall winning record would be a major accomplishment and a great sign for the future.

So far won the games they should win and lost the games they should lose (could argue SHU game but they were 9 point dogs). Seems like everything is right on track.

Rutgers fans personified in one post. What on earth were people expecting? Did OP watch the game last night? Sure we are outclassed by a perennial Sweet 16 team in their house, but we cut it to 9 in the second half and showed a fight I haven't seen in a Rutgers team in awhile.

Step 1 was to get a legit head coach (and staff) who can develop players. I think that has been accomplished. Step 2 is to recruit. That is in process. Time will tell.

We'll be in some games we shouldn't be this year. We'll win some games at home against the bottom half of the Big Ten. We might pull off a surprise somewhere along the way.

It wasn't going to happen in one year, so the OP needs to not jump off a cliff unnecessarily (unless he just doesn't know what the hell he's talking about). Future is brighter than it's been in a LOOOONG time.

Relax, he's got to have a full recruiting cycle to get some new guys in. Then we can see what's happening. It's too early right now.

They would have been 5 and 8 in the non conference without the new staff and players, give them time. They are better but it will take time.

11-2 OOC record aside, we are still the doormat of the B1G until we prove otherwise. We served Wisconsin well by being their transitional cupcake team to go into conference play.

And with Sanders injured, it could be ugly again. This is a program that needed half the team injured or suspended to get a conference win last year. Any conference win should be and will be cherished.

Announcers said that about the fight in this team as compared to the lack of it under the previous staff.

We played the Number 13 ranked basketball team in the country with a walk-on point guard. The question is more Honeymooners than honeymoon...

And there was a lot to be said about those losses - 2 point game vs SH with 3 minutes to go, many positive comments about, of all things, our half court defense (yeah!!), by the commentators. The team is developing, program on the right track.

Thing people need to understand is unless you're a Kentucky, Duke, or a school like that the chances of bringing in a program changing player or two are very slim. Add to that having to start in March or April and what Pike has accomplished so far and the way the team has responded has to make you feel pretty good about the future. Now they need to find a couple legit shooters which is severely lacking.

We are beating SH very soundly in the 1st Half. Just couldn't keep it up in the 2nd Half.

Lose to one of the best teams in the conference, and call the first 13 games an aberration. Honeymoon over. [eyeroll]

We need a down vote button for posts like this.

This thread is highly amusing. What did we expect at Wisconsin? Wisconsin is an extremely solid team. And through the years, even their lesser years, they almost never lose at home. They have been to the NCAA tourney in consecutive years since 1999.

Should change your name to newwavedebbiedowner. You make it sound like the other 13 Big 10 teams all won their league opener.

I actually like what I have seen so far. We play defense and grab rebounds. At some point shots will fall and we will steal a game we shouldn't. Good coach and top tier assistants will get us there, but it will take 3-4 seasons.

Remember we have had poor coaching, poor facilities, poor support, and zero history of NCAAs during recruiting target's lifetime.

Revival will not happen overnight.

Losing to SHU and Wisconsin both on the road after starting the season 11-1, is like going to Hawaii for 3 weeks the first of which saw beautiful weather but then on day 8 there was a good drenching rain storm.

Went down 8 - 0 and 13 - 2. From that point to a little over 5 minutes to go at Wisconsin we played them fairly even. Final was result of a lot of foul shots made at end of game. Didnt expect to win. They are playing hard and dont quit. They will continue to grow n get better

Remember everyone, 2016 isn't over yet the title for the dumbest thread of the year can still be won yet!

The OP is coming on strong late with this turd.
