Whole lotta people in this thread mad about LSU and Angel Reese but you know who doesn't seem to be upset about it? Iowa's players or coaches. Definitely not Caitlin Clark, who is a big trash talker herself.
100% respect for how Clark handled the whole situation and nothing seems to bother the Iowa coach.Whole lotta people in this thread mad about LSU and Angel Reese but you know who doesn't seem to be upset about it? I think she handled herself well personally. I’m surprised by this take. It sounded very much like she had one particular writer in mind but wasn’t going to name names. It was interesting that she said if you want to call my players names then do it at home but not in publicStaley went on a rant post game. Said people in the media covering her sport are calling her players bar fighters, thugs, monkeys, and street fighters. Quite an accusation. Must be nice to be able to make accusations like that and not have to back them up with any kind of follow up or examples.
If she’s not going to name names, she shouldn’t be using terms like monkeys and thugs. She knows exactly what she’s is doing and all it does is contribute to more hate. She’s a big time trouble maker…and she also used the comment to deflect from their disappointing loss.I think she handled herself well personally. I’m surprised by this take. As always, there are two sides to every story. I don't care who is doing the taunting, it's a low class move, and IMO, not part of the game. Let your playing do the talking:I may be biased because I believe taunting is fun and generally good for all sports so I have absolutely know issue with what took place Clark is a huge shit talker and all is fair in love and war. Clark was obviously frustrated at points throughout the game and got T’d up to boot.
Great game and great job by LSU.
It’s been a part of the game for decades and normalized in most sports. As always, there are two sides to every story. I don't care who is doing the taunting, it's a low class move, and IMO, not part of the game. Let your playing do the talking:
28.5” circumference vs mens 29.5”Isn’t the ball a bit smaller, maybe an inch circumference wise?
She was reporting what she heard, no? I don’t hear her often so I don’t know what she does. Do you not think those words are used to describe her players? It’s sad that there seems to be no way to have a discussion about race without rational discourse. Each side just seems to inflame the otherIf she’s not going to name names, she shouldn’t be using terms like monkeys and thugs. My point is that these are serious allegations. Anyone can say anything to incite hate..”I heard” doesn’t cut it with this. Name the people. Otherwise, it reeks of an agenda item…especially after a loss that she probably feels a little embarrassed about. She was reporting what she heard, no? She was specifically calling out “a National reporter”. I think the reporter got the message. Why does she need to take the person down in public? I guess the right thing to do is to address said writer in person. But she’s giving the message to the writers to be considerate what’s being said.My point is that these are serious allegations. She also brings it up after the Iowa coach said the game would be a bar room fight. It’s easy for the casual and emotional reader to imply the Iowa coach may have said far worse here.
Ridiculously transparent agenda item here, IMO.
It’s fine that we disagree here. IMO the reporter should be called out by name, otherwise I question the validity. I would have said it was irresponsible, but given there is some history here (the BYU incident), I think it’s calculated. She was specifically calling out “a National reporter”. It honestly feels like pro wrestling. Like this girl has her own ring name "bayou barbie". Girls are getting punched in handshake lines. Interviews sound like promos. There's a lot of drama, jealously between players etc. It's probably the reason this year's tourney was so popular tbh.How did people feel about the crown on the head during pre game intros? Hey, no one can deny this was the most anticipated Women's sporting event in a long time if ever.
Sad but true. Drama is popular. It honestly feels like pro wrestling. Like this girl has her own ring name "bayou barbie". Girls are getting punched in handshake lines. Interviews sound like promos. Good points.I have no issue talking trash during a game. The foul line thing by Reese was fair game, but what went down at the end of the game was something totally different. That was vindictive and angry. IMO, LSU missed the moment. The women's game was put on a huge platform because of Clark. LSU should have embraced Clark and thanked her for bringing more eyes to the game (and eventually more money to other players like Reese). Instead, LSU and Reese opted to feel disrespected. Now 90% of the people who watched will go away.
Lol. I mean that's just not how it works. LSU and Reese probably felt "disrespected" because they weren't getting the same attention Caitlyn Clark was getting. It felt like I was watching "Mean Girls" on the basketball court. It becomes amplified when one team is predominantly white and the other team is predominantly black.I have no issue talking trash during a game. Valid point…and the rim is the same width and height. The players’ hands are generally smaller however 😃, so it’s probably hard to compare.Isn’t the ball a bit smaller, maybe an inch circumference wise?
Careful, your fascist is showing...A lot of these espn personalities are race baiters. Everything is racist according to the libs..
Actually it is how it works if you see the big picture. Bird and Magic hated each other on the court. No one talked more than Bird. And, yet, win or lose the respect was always there between the two of them. Flip it to golf. A lot of players hated Tiger on the course and even off it for a long time. But, they all acknowledged -- even when he wasn't particularly liked -- that he brought eyes to the game. Like I said, you either understand the moment or you don't.Lol. On the risk of sounding sexist; you're talking about mens sports...Actually it is how it works if you see the big picture. Bird and Magic hated each other on the court. No one talked more than Bird. There are some legendary Larry Bird trash talking stories.Actually it is how it works if you see the big picture. Bird and Magic hated each other on the court. No one talked more than Bird. The chiefs said the same thing when they won the Super Bowl. Kelce, mahomes, etc.LSU wasn't getting attention lol?
Not as much as Caitlyn Clark.LSU wasn't getting attention lol?
Reminds me of the old joke about my grandfather's best advice to "just make sure you marry a girl with small hands." 😁Valid point…and the rim is the same width and height. The players’ hands are generally smaller however 😃, so it’s probably hard to compare.
The 28.5 is lighter too. Only 2 ounces, but that's a big difference when you're shooting.Valid point…and the rim is the same width and height. The players’ hands are generally smaller however 😃, so it’s probably hard to compare.
Yup - It's Us against the world is powerful. The chiefs said the same thing when they won the Super Bowl. Kelce, mahomes, etc.
Same with Georgia.
This just the norm these days because the reality is the minority opinion in sports is just as visible as the majority opinion due to social media AI.
And athletes leveraging whatever they can to fuel their drive is an adage old as time.
who called her players monkeys?? you would think that's pretty disparaging and she would call them out?? another coach? a writer? or maybe another little voice inside her little race baiting head?I think she handled herself well personally. I’m surprised by this take. It sounded very much like she had one particular writer in mind but wasn’t going to name names. it was pretty embarrassing. i love some good trash talk, but you just won the national championship the FIRST thing you do is literally chase down the best player in the country for some extended gesturing and trash talk lol. cringe as cringe gets.Following around another player for a minute straight is corny. That’s the real story. Lots of corny people are saying it was cool just makes it worse.
still makes it easier to shoot threes and other shots. If you think of the percentages a shot has to be with the tolerance to be "off" and yet still go in.. that inch.. which allows more control in a hand and more room inside the cylinder.. probably helps a lot.28.5” circumference vs mens 29.5”
i love shooting with my daughter's Evolution indoors...buttery grip, such an easy feel shot from 3, the size and weight make a HUGE difference. The 28.5 is lighter too. Only 2 ounces, but that's a big difference when you're shooting.
''Act like you`ve been there before.'' I always thought this was a Jim Brown quote, but Google tells me it's a Lombardi quote. If you just play hard and win, that should be your reward...not embarrassing your opponent. These DL/LB guys (for example) pounding their chests standing over a QB after getting half a sack after some offensive lineman has been shutting him out all game (and knocking him on his keaster for three quarters) is why I cannot watch whole games anymore. Besides, when I was a kid, you could get killed by the other team if you made fun of them lol. Just because you played better did NOT mean you were tougher than they were! Sportsmanship used to mean something...not any more...it's a shame. GO RU!This is easy. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Take the high road. Just bc Clark has been an unsportsmanlike jerk/diva doesn’t mean it’s ok to be the same. Sadly, sportsmanship has devolved. It bugs me every time a player holds up three fingers after hitting a trey, including our own guys. Do they hold up two on other shots ? Big deal. Play the game.
