Spending a week on LBI and we're going through restaurant menus in a directory at the hotel. We thought we had picked out one that we hadn't tried before when my daughter (rising junior at RU) notices they have a quesadilla called "we are Penn State." She promptly announced that "we're not going to that place,it's disqualified." Too many PA, NY, CT and folks from other states that bash NJ but still come here.

I was on the Ocean City (NJ) boardwalk a few nights ago w my family, and I'm wearing one of my Scarlet Rutgers T shirts, when a kid comes up to me w a huge smile and says " I start Rutgers next week', lol, so I give him a thumbs up and he gives me a high five. The funny thing is we all thought he appeared to be about 14 years old, lol.

I am a big fan of the Chegg in Beach Haven, but they get ridiculously crowded in the summer. Also Ship Bottom Brewery just opened up in Beach Haven as well. They have a good Double IPA called the Pleasure Island.

My favorite seafood joint is actually just off the island (Mud City). Can be a long wait but you won't be disappointed. I'm in Barnegat Light and they just opened a new place called DaeMark (have not tried it yet) plus a small joint called Off the Hook (take out but has outdoor seating to eat on site) has good seafood, and of course Mustache Bill's is a must for breakfast or lunch (NJ's first James Beard Foundation winner). Oh and the cult stench has not been that strong at the north end of the island (just a few with cammo hats and a chew in their mouth visiting the lighthouse yesterday).

owned a home down there and there were many PSU people--heck NJ is loaded with them

Isn't there a town named Jersey Shore located not far from State College, PA?

The best breakfast on Island ,Scojo's and best dinner. Carmen's.

Go to Harvey Cedars Shellfish Co., but the one in Beach Haven. It's BYOB but Nell will take care of you. Get the scallops and mussels with marinara.

Seen last summer on LBI

Am there almost every summer for a bit. Missed last summer and was there for a couple days just recently. The change to the shoreline, at least down around Beach Haven Crest, was mind blowing. I was struck dumb in the true sense of the word because my first, and considerably dumb, thought was: how could the sea level drop so far. LOL

Looked for jetties many of which were taller than me, just to realize, after having been told, that they were now buried under the sand about halfway back from the water. Utterly amazing transformation.

Yea, beach at Beach Haven is 150-200 yards wide. Looks great.

Went to Ship Bottom Brewery yesterday. Just recently opened and only had an ale and 2 IPAs. For beer drinkers its worth a try.

They literally just opened their new facility a few weeks ago. I was dumbfounded to hear that as the summer ends in 2 wks. They said NJ's medieval rules and regs too them forever to get going, when they wanted to be up around MDW. They will have more of their beers up soon as they get up and running completely.
