OT: Men's lax up to #9 in the Inside Lacrosse rankings

They will screw us any chance they get. The players shouldn't need to be reminded of this but if I were the coach I would bring it up often.

The acc is a 5 team conference and gotten all 5 teams in a number of x, including Uva going who didn't even win a conference game (and hasn't for 4 years).

Everything is in front of this team. Every B1G game is a war. Each game being a micro season. The team controls it's own destiny. They aren't thinking of leaving it in the committees hands. They are thinking of earning the AQ.

Get to the game if you can. Hopkins is playing faster this year, making it for an even more exciting game. I'm still not sold that it's in their DNA. Certainly not the coaches. They play this way holding their nose.

They have a very good face off guy. We need to do better there. Every time that kid picks the ball up he needs to be beaten like a dog. Let's see what their number 2 guy looks like in the 4th quarter when it counts. Their defense is suspect as is their goalie. They aren't a great clearing team either, so I'd like to see us pressure the hell out of them and force them to make plays, especially in the middle of the field where are our athletes really shine.

Our offense is getting white hot. The D will need to get in their gloves. They have some snipers at every level. I like that we are trending up. Each game we are getting a little bit better and better each time. Groundballs and faceoffs. We win the former while being close to 50% in the latter, I like our chances. Gotta play for 60 minutes. Runs happen but any extended lulls will not get it done.

This is awesome news, will certainly get to a game this spring (and a baseball game, as well).

Every game they have from here on out looks like a championship implications type of game. Pretty cool with such a small conference how much each game means. And the next 3 vs highly ranked opponents would go a LONG way to boosting the resume

Do we have any ultra successful lax alumni? This program needs to be minted at Rutgers. A legit top notch program should have no lack of funding.

Hahaha...

Yurcak was a lax alum. We definitely have a few guys that do well. It's a team effort with the program though. From an alum perspective, there is very much a sense that it's ours.. It's close knit. It can be as good as we want it to be.

With the right staff in place, which we have, the increased support from the administration, and the new facilities on the way, along with NJ lacrosse which is our base producing top tier talent, this program can be the best in the country one day.

Awesome, I'm excited to hear that. Still wish we had a bill gates type RU supporter

We all wish that. But donations are up and the program is doing well. Keep building. and building, which is what is happening. The current administration has been great for the program. They see the potential.

7-2 with the remaining games vs. the 5 B1G teams. Not sure even 3-2 gets it done. I think we need to go 4-1 to clinch.

We need to get into the B10 tournament and have a good showing to secure a spot.

It’s too early to give a specific number of games we need to win. This league is so good. No one is going through this league without taking some L’s.

We do need to take care of business in the BIG games but we would be in much better shape if we didn't lose one of our losses to Army and Princeton. Those could come back to haunt us. I think Princeton scored like the last 5 goals or such.

Army is still ranked and has No. 1 defense in country but the Princeton was the WTF game but they still carry some weight. If we go 3-2 against 4 of 5 ranked teams, no matter who we win or lose to, I think we are in despite being screwed previoulsy. The Big Ten versus ACC has crushed it. In head to head, a record of 6-2.

The tourney needs to expand. There are just too many good teams getting left out now.

Unfortunately, there was actually talk of contracting it.

Over the years the same things have been said of our football and basketball programs. I guess lacrosse is a lot closer to the top though. Good for them

The “Yeah, but this time it’s different...” tune has been sung many times on here.

But this time, it is different. LOL

While the NCAA would never buy it, I'd keep the tournament at it's current size and reduce the number of AQs.

That makes zero sense with MORE schools starting D1 programs, right?

It does. But if you look at it from a percentage perspective, the number of schools that field a D1 team compared to the number of tourney slots is actually higher than hoops for instance.

The problem, as the poster said above, is the AQs. That number is too high.

These analogies haven't really been used in lacrosse. We have had a team for over 100 seasons. Over that time, it's never sunk to the depths and despair of football under Shea or basketball under Rice/Hill/Jordan.

Also during that time, we have gotten a number of great players from NJ, produced many winning seasons, have a long time coach in the HoF and highly respected, and produced hundreds of All Americans. We are one of 12 programs with over 600 wins.

The lacrosse program has been everything those programs haven't been. Consistently pretty damn good. With the increased exposure and support from the administration, along with the right coach as compared to the last guy, the future has never been brighter. Our 18 class is going to be something.

I was talking about the other two and not lacrosse. Lol

Cali, are you hearing anything about groundbreaking and estimated completion date of the new center?

Y’know, you’re awfully close to paraphrasing someone who suggested the goal is for the team to go 1-0 each game.

Surprised being they are ranked 6 and we are 9 but we have had their number of late and it is at home.

HPSS advantage is real. We are 19-1 over 3 seasons, losing only in triple OT to eventual champion Maryland. The boys just come alive there and get into that flow state that is hard to replicate on the road.

Winning away games in this league is very, very tough.
