OT: My Daughter Signed Her NLI Today...with Rutgers

I love NLI day...such a great feeling for all of the families and players involved. Looking forward to ours a year from now! Unfortunately, my daughter won't be signing with Rutgers (despite interest from pretty much every OTHER D1 program in the area), but she'll still be an RU football fan.

Fantastic!! NJ has some of the best HS track and field talent in the country, happy to see some of them staying home. As an RU track alum and part time official, it pains me to see such incredible talent heading south, north and west every year. Good Luck to her, enjoy it because it goes fast!! I started competing at age 9 and still compete in masters events occasionally and my dad rarely missed a race in those 40 years. Now that he is gone, those are the best memories I have of him, cheering me on from the backstretch (or quietly from the infield when he was officiating) So don't miss it.

By the way, since you are from Morris County, the 400 hurdle relay in the Morris County Relay Championships is named after my dad. He was a many time state champ for Mt Lakes in the 40's, All American and national champ at Manhattan College and loooooonnnng time official at all the Morris County track meets.
So you are Dean's son?

Wow, How great is that! Congrats!! As I've previously posted, as an alum, was so excited a few months ago when my daughter was contacted by RU for her sport - she decided to take different route (smaller school, didn't want the D1 experience), but I can imagine how excited you must be!

All the best to you and your daughter. I know how much work it takes to get to this level.

Wisr/Veiox, do you know what her current PRs are for the various events?

Including dual meets:

HJ 5-06
LJ 17-0
TJ 36-0 (few meets as frosh with no practice and has not done since)
Discus 135
Javelin 115
Shot Put 35
Hurdles 15.0
100M 12.6
42 major victories (stat kept by milesplit winning invitationals and state meets)

You must be a very proud father. Hope she achieves all of her vast potential at RU, both academically and athletically!

Here is a photo from the ceremony. Can't believe another generation On the Banks of the Old Raritan!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to your daughter and family, Wisr01!

Since you are saving on tuition, all of us here on this board expect you to sink all your saved up money you were originally going to use for her tuition in to the RU Athletics fund. We will wait here while you do that :)

Wisr, congratulations to you and your wife. You should be very proud of Leah.

This is great, I am happy for your family. As a father of a girl who hopes to one day play college softball getting signed to any college in paticular a power 5 is a great achievment.

That's awesome, congratulations! I remember you talking about her accomplishments when she was much younger. I might have the wrong girl, but was she once featured on SI's "faces" page?

Now we need to get some good coaches to Rutgers. I can think of a couple WisR how bout you :)
Sure can. In fact, I wish we could make it happen. Two names that come to mind happen to be the only two real coaches Leaper has had for her 9 events.
