OT: NJ gas tax to increase 2.6 cents a gallon

Come January gas will go up in price by 2.6 cents a gallon. The current lower gas prices makes the tax increase a little more bearable.

i wouldn't mind paying the tax if they actually weren't wasting so much of the money we already send them. Hopefully the next governor has their own DOGE for the state

It is crazy now to remember the days when neighboring drivers used to come into NJ for gas prices. I wonder how much of a difference it is. NJ is pretty much on par with NY/Pa/Del pricing.

I'm no fan of former Governor Christie who did many good things when he first came to office but ultimately acted like a bully. Although Christie agreed to the Democrats request for the gasoline tax to fund highway construction, he gained an important concession from the Democrats. Because of Christie's efforts and the deal he made with the Democrats, he obtained their agreement to phase out and ultimately do away New Jersey's Estate Tax. The Estate Tax exemption in effect when the deal was put into effect was only $675,000, which meant that most Estates would have eclipsed the exemption with the value of a home. In retrospect, I think Christie made a very fair deal with the Democrats.

They had to redo a north bound section 3 times. Improper engineering in abundance

I think only DE is cheaper. NY and PA still more.

And DE has always been cheaper at least in the time I've been driving, since GS 1.0 lol.
