I have a noon appointment at Sloan Kettering Today at 68th Street and First Ave. I normally take the Ferry in from Atlantic Highlands near where I live. But we have 2 people going, and that's 90 bucks, plus some lag time for the ride home. Thinking it may be quicker/easier to drive.

And I don't want to go by bus or train from Metropark. I know the train route, but it's too much trouble to get over to the East side and 68th street from NY Penn Station.

Should be leaving the city by 2 p.m. be a problem if we drive in? Last time I drove in on a Saturday we took the GWB to the Henry Hudson.

Drive it?

GSP to Turnpike to Holland Tunnel to FDR. Reverse coming back. Good luck.

since you will be commuting off peak you should be fine with any of the tunnels or GWB.

Try to jump in the car as close to 2 as you can as exiting the city on summer Fridays (going either east or west) can be rough. Your trip in should be a breeze.

I hope things go well for you and yours during the visit to Sloan.

Good luck with the appointment - I agree with those above, driving in is probably your best option. Just leave yourself enough time to find parking in the area.

Getting into the city you'll be fine....leaving may be another story. Fridays are crazy for leaving the city in the afternoon. Earlier the better

If heading to the East Side take the GWB to the FDR - South.
Should have no traffic later in the morning.

Rethinking. Parking 30 bucks, tolls 20 bucks, frustration factor of driving-priceless. I have been stuck in Friday afternoon traffic leaving Brooklyn, and it was bad. I may not get out by 2 p.m., and that may be a problem.

I expect everything to go well at Sloan. 1 year follow up on a surgery. Feeling great.

very important if you drive in
Avoid the Holland Tunnel at all costs
As you exit from Ny to Jersey city you are likely to encounter traffic no matter the time of day.

Pulasky skyway is shut for repairs.
This causes an exit , and confusion, as no one knows where in hell to go.
Two lanes merge, on right, and you do a 2mile circle and are at a point of choosing rte 440 towards Bayonne, Or Kearny, Harrison on the right.

I have been coming from central nj once a week
So , my opinion only, from Rutgers take rte 78east exit turnpike south for a few miles.
Take outerbridge across Staten Island to BQE
Exit BQE over Brooklyn bridge.
In right lane there is an exit for FDR north

Lincoln better, but not by much, as serial drivers are aware of the Holland Tunnel

But if you think it out in total
Depending on the car 20-25 gas
13 toll on any tunnel, or bridge
30 park ( if a garage is available ) for a normal car
As much as double for an SUV

Personally train to meadowlands, change for grand central staion, cab

Sorry I did not see your last post before typing this

Abro has the correct way to go. Holland Tunnel slope around Battery Park onto the FDR. I've been going since 2008 when I was sick and that's always the best way. We've tried other routes but they're just not as easy or good.

I know this is late but POTUS is in town and is specifically on the East Side. Not a fun day to be driving around the city.

In general, parking in Secaucus and training in works well.. Trains run every 10 minutes or so from and to there

Oh yeah, my 1 year scans were 100% clear--no recurrence. [banana] I have been told there is a low probability of recurrence, and I will get scanned every 6 months for 2 more years.

Congrats! I've been clean for 7 years now but I'm still 31 and will deal with my stuff in the future. Sloan is the best!! I still go twice a year and see three different doctors.

We're any of you at the 64th and Third location this afternoon? Took my mom in and there was a guy in a RU cutoff with block R tattoo standing outside.

I shudder when I read this as it reminds me of the a great dis on the MBB Board a few years ago by a SHU fan about this style of dress being called the Rutgers Tuxedo...
(Sorry to rake up the painful past)

Its only cheaper if you discount wear and tear and gas. At the standard reimbursement rate of 57 cents a mile, you are coming in over 90 dollars for the trip, and thats not including tolls and parking - which puts you well over $100

Silly shoe moron. Do they ever get anything right?

The correct description of a Rutgers tuxedo is this...

Any red Rutgers shirt (WITH sleeves, bac2therac - lol), cargo shorts and either flip flops/sandals or sneakers.

I fought it for years but finally realized for a game (and a lot of other occasions) the cargo shorts work.
