OT: 2024 NY Yankees Season Thread

You can have a 1-2 week slump, but he's in a month long one. He can't do that when his salary is 1/7th of the team's payroll. I should have been more specific.
He's got another week left in April. He looked better today. Oakland isn't exactly sending out Koufax and Drysdale for the next two games.
Despite the start there's every reason to expect a typical super-productive season from Judge.

Uh oh.
I'm beginning to think we may have seen the last of DJ.

Unfortunately, we won't be free of his contract for another 3 years I believe.

Evan Longoria is available I believe. Sign him on the cheap and let him mentor the young kids if DJ is out for a lot longer.

Fire Cashman.

Watched a few minutes of today's game while getting ready for work. I don't think that I've ever heard of a single guy thats playing for Oakland.

So true.
Not a good sign that the Yankees are struggling with them.

And that owner is worth 3 billion dollars, pleads poverty and won't even come up with a decent payroll. These owners are 100 times more harmful to the game than the big spenders. It's not even close.

I have said this so often. There has to be a min cap too. Anything in xxmil- loses a certain % of tge revenue sharing that is taxed to the clubs over cap.

I was talking about the guys that were on the field. As for the closer (who I had to look up) what is Mason Miller memorable for?
I hadn't heard of him either.
He's a rookie. 103 mph fastball and a nasty slider. He's thrown 15 of the 18 fastest pitches this season in MLB. Twenty strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.

And tonight the Yanks turned the game over to a guy who has already been cut by three other teams this season...and it's still April.
What do you think happened ?
Of course the three, four, and five hitters going a combined 0-14 didn't help.

Add in leadoff hitter...0-19.

At this point Gleyber is just worthless.

The Bronx Bombers showed up tonight in Milwaukee.
And Gleyber finally got a key hit.
Rodon pitched well.

!5 runs Saturday.
15 runs Sunday.
Let's hope they bring those bats to Baltimore.
I guess not.
BTW, Stanton getting thrown out going from first to second on a single to right field by Wells was friggin embarrassing.

Michael Kay made sure he told his audience that Stanton wasn't dogging it. That's as fast as he can run these days.
I'm convinced he needs to go. Pay up...admit the mistake, and move on.
Any other DH would be an improvement.

On one play Stanton hit a dribbler up the 3rd base line that was so perfectly placed you were sure even he could beat it out. Nope.
I honestly think even I could have beaten that out.
The bottom line is that he doesn't produce enough with his bat to justify keeping him around.

The starting pitching has been a dream so far. Hopefully everyone stays healthy until Cole comes back.

Stanton stinks overall, but he's still on pace for 30 homers. His biggest issue is that he runs like an elephant and is an anchor in the field. Slotting him into the DH slot doesn't exactly help keep the rest of the team very fresh.

30 HR is a joke for a guy getting paid what he is getting and his limited ability.

Well I agree but you're gonna pay him the money no matter what at this point. Cashman not taking a hit for bringing on this contract in the first place is the biggest problem of all.

It was the worst trade ever by the NY Yankees. Nothing comes close! I caught hell on this board when I blasted it the second it was announced. I was sitting in my car at the Army Navy game at the Linc at 9am

It really wasn't the worst Yankee trade of all time. The three guys they gave up didn't turn out to be Rogers Hornsby, Dick Groat and Don Drysdale.

Here is the worst Yankee trade I can think of off the top of my head.
