OT: Ozark (spoilers)

I've been on an all-drugs binge (on Netflix). Went from Narcos, to Top Boy, to Ozark while simultaneously rewatching Breaking Bad ahead of seeing El Camino. Think I might try El Chapo next.
What’s Top Boy?

Thought season 3 was pretty good. Think I liked season 1 and 2 better though. This season sort of went around in circles for awhile with the whole Ben thing. And what about the casino owner’s wife who fell down the hillside and seemingly died??

Ha ! I watched all of Narcos, El Chapo, El Camino, and the Wire. I didn't watch Top Boy. Is that worth a watch? Another one that I enjoyed was Bloodline. It's too bad there were only 3 seasons of that. Any others worth watching? My wife and I were going to start FleaBag and see what all the hype was about that. I don't know. It didnt seem like my kind of show.

Yeah really liked Top Boy and think you would too if you liked those others. Reminded me of the Wire in ways, but British. First two seasons are Top Boy Summerhouse, then there's the new season that Netflix revived (with big push from Drake). Think there's supposed to be a 4th season.

Agree about Bloodline, really enjoyed that.

Amazon hasn't had much I've been into lately. Just started Catastrophe, which is funny, and finished Goliath a couple weeks ago.

See above, too, but it's a British drug dealer show. Started on UK TV, got canceled, then Netflix brought it back, apparently because Drake was a fan and threw his money/brand into it. Good watch.

Oh yeah, pretty much forgot about that, lol Wonder if it comes back in the future or just used to further the show's dark world view. Ben felt like an unnecessary tangent that went nowhere, save to turn Ruth, which could have been done without him.

Yeah agree. Hate to see Ruth and Marty fighting. Reminds me of the Walt and Jessie dynamic in Breaking Bad....just want them to hug it out.

Ozark’s writing is a mess, particularly this year, and the show has always been uneven. But it’s still pretty entertaining. I think it’s the actors.

Bloodline was very good, not sure what happened to it though, thought it was coming back.

Loved Ozark, Love Jason Bateman. My wife always says, why can't you be that calm when things go awry? Umm, its a TV show?

I thought season 3 was a drop off from the first two seasons. It was still good, and the ending of episode 10 was awesome, but the first two seasons were at a higher level.
Agree. This season you no longer have the feel of an innocent family that gets tangled in a web of evildoers.

Now they are full-on criminals and while the show is still worthwhile due to the performances, it no longer has the same feel as the first two seasons.

And I agree that the Ben character was just unnecessary. Seems like someone wrote him into the show just to have him showcase his acting chops.

Just finished season 3. WOW. The actor who played Ben (Tom Pelphrey) was unbelieveable. A emmy worthy performance. I remember him from Banshee. Episodes 8,9 and 10 were very good. Episode 9 was probably my favorite. Great show with great acting. Ruth and Wendy are great too. Sucks we will probably be waiting for ever for season 4

Opposite for me. I have watched from the beginning and love the show. Season 1 and 2 were great, but Season 3 was a step-up IMO.

Was thinking of watching "Breaking Bad". Is it worth it?

I've watched the entire run twice. I wish I could have binged the series the first time I saw it rather than the second. I will probably binge it again a third time a few years from now.

Ha! I've watched the Breaking Bad series 3x! It's my favorite series. I've said in post above that I'm also a fan of the Better Call Saul series and how it intertwines with BB. I've watched El Camino movie also but I didn't like it as much ... don't want to be a spoiler on why.

It’s one of the best shows of all time. Then watch Better Call Saul, which is a prequel of sorts and amazing as well.

I agree it is one of the best. On the main board there are a few viewers who watched the first couple of episodes and did not like it

To those who are considering it, give the show
at least five episodes to get the feel of it

Spoiler. Below

One of my favorite sequences was early on with the one bad guy chained in the basement and having to kill him
and having to dispose a dead body at the same time
That had me hooked

The first episode is amazing in itself. If you can’t get into it after that episode, you just have bad taste!

When The Brady Bunch ran out of ideas, they brought in cousin Oliver. It didn't work. Ozark just did the same thing with Wendy's brother Ben. Good show, but I thought season 1&2 were superior. Prior to the finale, I thought the season dragged. I hope they end the series next season. Nothing worse than a good show that doesn't know when to quit.

That reminds me of Mr. Robot (USA network & Amazon Prime) starring Rami Malek and Christian Slater. An amazing, underappreciated show that only ran 4 seasons. The network wanted more, but the creator, Sam Esmail said no, despite the network throwing money at him. He had a story to tell, and told it beautifully. In fact, Mr Robot had the best series finale of any series I've ever watched. If you're looking for a new binge watch, check it out.
