Anyone watch last night? I caught at least 10 decent ones from around 10PM to 11PM as well as a really crazy fireball which appeared around 9:30. It seems the last few years have been very cloudy but last night was absolutely perfect for viewing. What amazes me the most is that the meteors are no bigger than a grain of sand and the fireballs the size of a pea. How something that small can put on such a display of fire/light is really incredible.

We planned on waking up at 4am and going out to the hook to watch. But I know I was not serious about that and suspect my woman was not either.

Might try to make a go of it tonight about midnight.

I went up on the Blue Ridge Parkway to watch. I was surprised at the crowds at each overlook with the same idea.

Now you know why it only took a six mile wide meteor hitting the Earth off the coast of today's Mexico to wipe out the dinosaurs and many other life forms on the planet. They come in pretty fast and the ones you spotted probably disintegrated several miles up in the atmosphere even though they appeared closer.

Google Sky Map on your smartphone or tablet is your friend for stellar events.

I saw 4 that made me go WOW! and a lot of little ones. One of them left a vapor trail that lasted about 2 seconds. It is going to be another nice evening, after the big Jets game grab a cup of coffee and a lounge that you can tilt and lay back in and watch the show.

what's the best time to look and what direction? thx.
Supposed to look to the Northeast, but looking straight up while sitting on a deck on LBI, I saw some within a range of approximately 160 degrees.
