I used to like this guy and his family. I saw the 30 for 30 on Archie Manning, and it was very touching. But when I read about the incident with the trainer in 1996, and Peyton's lame excuse for what he did, I initially chalked this up to a 19 year old who got a little risqué, and together with the trainer maybe had a good chuckle.
But then I saw the cover-up when one of his teammates came forward and didn't go along with Peyton's story. And then Archie wrote something in a book in the late 90's where he denigrated the young lady. And then it came to a head today when the subject was brought up, and he said that was a long time ago, and it's over and done with.
Which I thought was the height of arrogance. For the young lady, it may not be over. Especially after you give her the one-two punch with your dad, and from what I read, caused her to have trouble finding employment for a while. After all, when you make statements against the Mannings - who are like gods in the south - good luck trying to salvage your reputation.
But would it amount to a pimple on Manning's butt if he were to pick up the phone and call her to apologize, even after all these years. I heard him on the radio today upset about what a person can do to damage one's reputation - he was talking about the HGH delivery to his house, which he claims was for his wife - and how his wife's private medical information is now public. Too bad, a$$hole, but how's it feel to be on the receiving end of this kind of crap?
