OT: Purdue has fired their HC

Just trying to get out ahead of all of the nonsensical crap that will be posted.

They should hire PJ Fleck. That is no joke. He has gotten it done at WMU. And Row the Boiler has a nice ring to it.
Can't see them going back to the MAC again think they go coordinator route

Will Purdue be "Rowing the Boat " next year ?
Don't think they will be spending top dollar to get a HC like the one LSU let go or pay what Schiano might be wanting because of having to pay Hazell around a $4,450,000
buyout.

The buyout money is nothing to Purdue. They haven't spent any money for a while and are finally investing in things. A new fb coach is one of them things. I would say they will look at an expierienced head coach.

check out this complaint and see where I’m coming from when I say Purdue won’t pay big money for Hazell’s replacement after buying him out.

I think they have since announced some of this.

If they do have funding then maybe Purdue will be willing to pay to bring in a name brand.
But if that master plan is just getting started and the funding isn't completely there,
a row your boat type might be persued because of finances won't be enough after the buyout to go after the top of the line available HCs.
It does look , from what you posted, that the money is available to go after the pick of litter instead of hoping a runt that looks good really is a good get.

Purdue is going to give us a run for our money in recruiting when they hire Schiano. We are doomed.

After a couple of years with Meyer, Schiano won't have to settle for Purdue, and he knows it. Yes, I know most coaching changes are made because a program is in trouble, and there is some risk in waiting for the right opening, but Purdue ain't it.

Yeah, but when they look at what Durkin and Ash have done at Maryland and Rutgers, they will think twice about that route too.

There are too many examples of ALL routes working and not working to point to any of them and make any conclusions. You hire a person, not a resume.

Firing the HC at this point seems to be an attempt to get a head start on the end of season coaching derby sweepstakes.
Which accomplishes nothing. Nobody is accepting that job until they find out what other options they have. All it does is placate donors

These mid season firings seem to be more of thing lately. Feeling like somewhat of a new norm an less of an aberration.

Les Miles isn't a name I would have attached to Purdue but who knows. I was actually thinking if ND has a Charlie Weis redux and fires Kelly after having given him an extension in January of this year that maybe he could land there. Stay in Indiana, lower profile (which could be a good thing for him) but still in the B10 and in the easier half.
