Ray had a 20 minute interview on Mike & Mike this morning. He has been the topic of conversation for the last hour, i.e., whether he deserves another shot in the NFL and if he gets another shot.

Ray was contrite (as you would expect) but it was definitely designed to try and get him another opportunity to play. Mike & Mike were noncommittal after the interview whether to believe him or not although they both think he'll never get another chance. It's now the lead topic on First Take. It will be a story all day on ESPN.

listened to it also... what got me was, his belief in God who forgives.

Give the dude another shot, if you can give Tebow a look in baseball, don't think it'd be so difficult for an NFL team to give Ray a look.

Who did Tim Tebow sucker punch ? If you can provide a video then I'll agree with your point. Otherwise you are way off the mark on this one.

didn't mean to compare their faults, just saying if a MLB team is willing to give Tebow a look after 11 years of not playing any kind of organized baseball...
I think a minor league team will give him a chance so they can sell tickets. MLB not so sure

It stinks for Ray he can't even get a camp look. His vet minimum is close to a million too, probably doesn't help.

bottom line if someone thought he could contribute he would be playing.
nope.. not the bottom line.. I will correct that for you.

Bottom Line: if Ray could contribute once you factor in risks of negative press.. then he would get a shot.

But then you have a lot of RBs you can try that don't come with his baggage.. RR would have to be a sure thing... and his size always created doubters.. then the line play and his performance in his last year creates doubts.. and his age creates doubts... and the bad press.. no doubts there.

There just isn't enough perceived upside to take the risk.

I think a lot of people think he could contribute... but at what cost?.. compared to others who might contribute. That's the equation.

Ray may just have to continue to recover and think about coaching. His chance may never come. He is the chosen one for what he did.

I think he's done regarding any chance of an NFL-return. The longer you're out of the league, the harder it is to get back in. I'm sure he can still play but football is a young man's game and there's always draft classes of young guys coming into the league on an annual basis.

Ray will get a shot this year. It wasn't teams not interested in Ray the past couple of years, it was the NFL blocking him.

He'll be on a roster this year.

I don't think the running back position has ever been less important in the NFL than it is now. I wonder if that's part of the reason why Ray Rice isn't being given a chance. You have drafts these days where the entire first round might go by without a running back being taken.

What evidence do you have to support the claim of Ray being blocked by the NFL ?Why didn't Greg Hardy get blocked if that's the case ?

He's old for a RB with lots of mileage on his legs and may very well be washed up. And he comes with baggage as the poster boy for domestic violence in the NFL. No surprise that 32 teams feel that he cannot help them win.

Only jerruh jones would take a RB top 5 lmao

But no you're right, the running back position has been devalued greatly, and rightfully so. The proof is in the pudding, I belive the only all pro RB to win a super bowl in the last 8 or so years has been Marshawn Lynch. The NYG won a SB in 2011 with like the worst or second worst rushing attack in the league. All of this, along with the good points made by GoodOlRutgers, hurts Ray's pursuit of a comeback immensely.

Maybe Im wrong but Rice shouldve went up to Canada to either prove to NFL team who can still play or start a 2,3 year career up there.

Or maybe Ray should simply stop begging.

Accept the consequences of his actions, and invest wisely.

I get it, he's a football player. But every time he speaks I cringe. He's being put in a situation where every word is used against him. He cannot win.

Offering to donate your salary is ridiculous.

Ray's best move is simply to move on, and do something productive like finishing your degree.

Its sad at this point. It is what it is, hes not going to get signed unless some team has major injuries. Hes the damn poster boy for domestic violence and that video is embedded in every fan's head. Like a prior poster said, look into coaching and invest wisely. Your shot was up the second you haymakered your wife into another dimension on camera.

I think if his own wife can forgive him, then anybody who doesn't even know him should be able to also.

You answered your 2nd question on your own. He was the poster boy. That video is why he was blocked, not because of his actions.

Why else do you think the Ravens kept him and he got a short suspension after the news initially got out. The NFL and most teams don't care about that stuff, they care about winning and making money.

It's been worked out between Ray and the NFL. He will get another shot this year

What Ray did was a bad thing for sure...Ray can do nothing more than lead the rest of his life in a positive manner...Many others are given 2nd chances...many adhere to the practice of forgiveness...Ray has done all he can do both in public and in the media...the "holier than thou's" will always show him contempt that is the funnier part...Negative news is what sells the most print copy...just look at Presidential race for a clue...
