Looking to get away for a weekend over night just to chill and get away from the kids . Driving distance from Monmouth county . Looked at the inn at Leola in PA but 3hours away and $599 a night I don't think so. Anyone have suggestions ?

Go somewhere to the Jersey Shore. Shorter drive, more time together.
Atlantic View Inn in Avon is nice. There are several B&B's in Asbury Park, and you can walk across the bridge on Wesley Lake and have a romantic dinner at Moonstruck or one of the many other fine restaurants. John Eddie and his band are playing the Stone Pony Friday night. He is very entertaining.

You don't say "when" and you don't specify what's an acceptable drive, but there are a lot of vacation properties on Chesapeake Bay that can be had for a couple hundred bucks a night.

If that's too far, take a look at the Angel Inn in Cape May. Totally worth it.

March and up to a two hour drive

Then Chesapeake would be too far, so I'd stick with my second recommendation - it's correctly named The Angel of the Sea. Rooms in March will run you 300 - 400 per night. Their breakfast is great (buy their cookbook!) and the rooms are really sweet. Get one with a private balcony, spend an hour looking out at the ocean with a nice glass of scotch.

Renault Winery S Jersey Galloway Twp. Great overnight trip and great values

We're partial to Lambertville. Great town with great restaurants, nice scenery, cool shops (I can at least take antiques over most other shopping) and some cool bars. Also, right across the river from New Hope, but we like Lambertville a little better. Plus, tons of interesting towns and villages to see along the Delaware if you feel like exploring.

For lodging, the Lambertville House is a really nice old inn that's been updated nicely - can get rooms for $200-$300 - it's worth splurging on a king bed room with a gas fireplace, balcony and hot tub. The Inn also has a very nice relaxed French bistro style restaurant, but if I had to pick one place for a meal in LV, it would be Brian's a top-of-the-line French restaurant (still casual, but one of the best restaurants in NJ, IMO).

Grand Cascades Lodge at Crystal Springs. Some rooms have fireplaces, 3-4 restaurants, spa, indoor pool, and a fantastic wine cellar.

Can't go wrong with Cape May for something a bit more casual.

As a Lambeetville resident, I can definitely second this post. And I know the owner of Brian's so if you end up here, let me know.

Atlantic City. Stay at the Atlantic City Sheraton. Visit the Blue Mercury Spa at the Tropicana. Lots of trendy shopping, restaurants, and shows. It has become a nice place to visit. I go every couple of months.

Drop the Mrs. off at Chippendales. Then go get yourself some hookers and blow; doesn't matter where you go after that. Meet up late morning.

Wulverrton inn in Stockton nice b&b killed me no tv when we went there but guess that's the point

Have stayed at the Leola Inn near Lancaster a few times, wife really likes it. Great little breakfast place right near there (almost next to it), as well as a great pizza place right down the street. Also likes Borgata in AC. Wife like afternoon tea? Great place in Chester for that if you stay near there.

Lancaster Pa is always a reliable choice if you want to get out of Jersey but honestly...

Visit Baltimore. Little more than 2 hour drive but the city is fantastic and so much to do there and surrounding areas.

another vote for Cape May, plenty of choices and price points for overnight stays and lots of great places to eat and drink. There is 1 or 2 wineries open all year as well as Cape May Brewery which recently expanded.
Thanks all. A lot of great suggestions

add another vote for Cape May.. if my grandparents weren't ill right now i'd be down there hanging out with em(when they're sick they don't wanna see family due to doctor appointments which means less time with family)

Cape May has a singer songwriters festival every March, this year on The 18th and 19th..... A good number of the restaurants have continual entertainment during the evening, almost all of it at no charge...... You can dine and listen, go from venue to venue....

I like it better than the Jazz festival, which gets a lot more crowded, since it is more widely known about.
