OT: Rick Beato YouTube Discussion on Music

by the way Madonna just played to 1.6 million in Brazil
Just goes to show you modern folks have no taste. It must be sooo embarrassing watching that old hag try to act sexy on stage at 90 years old with her Jigsaw plastic surgery. LOL

It was a free gig outdoors
Crowd size "estimated" - Rod Stewart supposedly got over 4.2 million in 94 and stones 1.5.
Her first album was good and I listen to it. Thank-you Jellybean.

I agree, she was groundbreaking in 1985 and I enjoyed her first album and all the bars and clubs that were playing it.

@ashokan I wasn't taking a shot at you. ; )

Nope - sounds like same page. She was a dance club hit first, and Jellybean Benitez was the DJ who got the hooks in all her first songs. I always say Jellybean made Madonna. Bars and clubs were still somewhat of a scene back then (Studio 54 closed in 86)

Madonna was still relevant and cutting edge up to 2006...after that she lost the plot and tried chasing. She had a shot to soften her image and regain her fanbase in 2018 after she laid low after the blowing up the white house comment but instead when the other direction....she knew us audiences were done with her so she decided to court spanish and world music audiences which was her only way to get new fans and then made matters worse in 2021 by ****ing up her face and totally losing her body

still im going to say there is a double standard, we just had a thread prasing Mick Jagger at 80 and his moves on stage...why is he praised and a 15 year younger Madonna panned.

I used to wonder why she messed-up her face until I saw her before pics.
I still don't listen to anything of hers after the 80s - around "Vogue" I tuned-out.
Her best sung song is Evita but I don't listen to that either.

you are missing out on some great stuff from the 90s and 00s.

Confessions on a Dance Floor is a masterpiece of pop/dance music ahead of its time, its unfortunate the next release she chased hits with Timbaland for Hard Candy which marked the first time she was behind the times.

I probably heard it all but was "meh" about it.
Most music and film is forgettable.
I didn't care for a lot of rock or disco
Last years I've been making-up for the UK stuff from 80s that I missed
Last night I watched Donnie Darko and that has a great soundtrack
INXS, Tears for Fears, The Church, Joy Division, Echo & the Bunnymen - great stuff I never heard new.
I could have been listening to The Church instead of Madonna, Rick Astley, Tiffany, Taylor Dayne and other stuff MTV belched out

Sounds like you should've been going to the Melody, as those bands were all staples there.

This Jerry Cantrell interview is a masterpiece. Even if you are not a fan of Alice in Chains, the depth of discussion on recording, tracks, favorite guitarists, etc is interesting to music fans.
