OT-Ronda Rousey Knocked Out First Round

Good for her... I never liked her ever since she developed a strange obsession with bashing Mayweather to the point where I thought he was inside of her head. Hopefully she just gives up and retires.
She has a terrible coach and is currently not stable mentally - she was not ready to fight tonight. This is reminiscent of Tyson or Tiger after they lost their mystique - once they lost their aura the sharks could smell blood.
She had quite a bit of time off since her last fight and no amount of training can fully prepare you (similar to game speed and getting hit in football, or live pitching in baseball). At that level things can go bad very quickly. She probably should have had a few tune-up fights before taking a title shot, instead she just got tuned up.
I think it had something to do with dating Turtle.
She never knocked people out. She arm barred them all.
Her style was never suited to bang with someone in a stand-up game. Once Meisha tagged her in their fight, she couldn't process that a striker could keep her away from them.
She is a world class judo player with decent jiu jitsu. But her success was more a byproduct of favorable style match-ups than anything.

Rousey simply lacks basic boxing skills and everyone now knows it. The game has changed. Women's MMA has grown quickly and so has the skill level fighters. Being a tough woman with a great judo skill set isn't good enough. Rousey look like a 2X4 with legs when trying to box. Stiff upper body, no head movement. She's a human punching bag when boxing and women who can box well can beat the heck out of her.
She looked like Michael Spinks fighting Tyson. Nice way to pick up $3 million is less than a minute.
It seemed like Rousey thought she could just walk through a couple punches and then get Nunes to the ground. There seemed to be no game plan - she was literally target practice for Nunes. All Nunes had to do was keep Rousey at a distance and slip her when Rousey tried to grab her. Really question Rousey's coaching/strategy or lack thereof.

nice comparison...... I went to see the Spinks/Tyson fight at the meadowlands..... a friend of mine decided to get in line for a hot dog, came back with it a minute or two later and missed the
fight entirely.... was pretty funny at the time, not so much for him
Hah... but now he has that "don't go for a dog" story, which will live forever, as it should.
My god. No defense at all. She needs a few years of Tae Kwon Do or something to have a game other than just grappling.
So, what he is saying is he would not have went for a dog on a night like this?
I'll bet her accountant has a strategy for counting the money. Brilliant way to hustle $3Mill. She'll probably start doing more movies next.

weird thing about fights is that the Spinks/Tyson fight felt like a waste of money, because it was such a quick knockout, and mentally I thought Spinks might give him trouble, out quicking him, at least for a good part of a fight
then you compare that to the Hagler/Hearns fight, that probably only lasted about 8 minutes, and I thought I had gotten more than my moneys worth

She is done fighting. She'll be 180lbs. by next week.
Looking back at her previous fights, she never boxed well. Others feared her because of her ground game. She has no defense and it showed. She has been exposed in her last 2 fights. I agree with the fact that she came back too soon and wasn't prepared. Unless she improves her boxing and defensive skills, she may as well retire.
Better, skilled fighters who don't fall into Ronda's arm bar trap. Holly Holm is a world class kickboxing champ and Amanda Nunes is one of the best hitters in the sport. Plus more and more females coming up have been training in MMA now who are better prepared than when Ronda's only competition was Meisha Tate, while Cris Cyborg had her issues getting in.
Despite what all of the Ronda fans still say, the female division is in better shape than before. Yes that was because Ronda dominated. But more females trained better to beat her.
Maybe she should have taken Floyd Mayweather's offer to teach her better boxing skills.
I couldn't agree more. She got peppered, and looked lost. Like someone who's never been hit before. Kind of felt bad for her. But that's on her, the sport has changed with more strikers now.
