OT: Temple on-campus stadium going forward

...besides the neighborhood protests about this, I still can’t imagine how they’re going to build this for $135 mil in Philly. For that price in the Northeast they’re going to get a shoebox that might be outdated by the time it’s completed.

Bullshit. I count 7 cars on the street, which are more than adequate to carry their average attendance of 25 fans.
However, in fairness, it will be easy to use mass transit. How does TU handle the daily influx of students, professors and employees?

LOL Cruel. HAhhshhshahahahaha.

Any particular reason we decided to bump this thread?
Did you happen to read the link in post #159???? That meeting was two nights ago & the Temple President had to be escorted out of the meeting, seems like the neighbors are NOT in favor of a stadium being built, even though some in this thread said that there would not be any problem with the neighbors.

I knew the neighbors would fight it to the death. They're already up in arms over Temple trying to gentrify that area.

Appreciate the kind words RUforLIfe but I dont advocate dropping TUFB. I particularly dont advocate investing 135 Million plus in this product since Ive yet to meet a single person who will go to the campus stadium because its built. I have met numerous people who are going now who wont go to campus.

DJ Spanky, Temple Stadium was not on campus. It was 7 miles north, the same distance the Linc is south, 7 miles. Temple Stadium was torn down because it was literally falling down. It was built in 1928 and was completely unsafe. It would have cost more than Vet Stadium to adequately repair.

As I suggest, this development at Temple will produce circumstances. I am dumbfounded that some Temple people believe other schools will just sit around and allow Temple to make moves that may make them more attractive to another conference. Though I believe a 30K seat stadium eliminates Temple from any further consideration of a P5 invite, there is a contingent of people who believe it does help. Why would anyone think Villanova will sit on their thumb and not entertain steps to prevent that ?
I have to be honest with you. Other factors aside, why would anyone want to use "Villanova might do X" as a reason not to try to make your program better? I don't get that. You're afraid of Villanova?

It's going on all around the city, not just at Temple. Developers have been scooping up entire blocks, tearing down homes people could afford and building expensive condos in their place. It's the same thing that happened to the Lower East Side in Manhattan. The locals got pushed out there, they'll get pushed out here.

Where will the hookers go?

Newark residents successfully fought the opening of a Wawa, so I can't say I'm surprised

Wouldn't be shocked if the stadium situation being hopeless is one of the main reasons why Temple's AD is looking at the Maryland AD job, along with the fact it's a B1G job over an AAC job. He's a finalist for it.

They hired Damon Evans.

He was a finalist....Maryland announced yesterday that they have removed the acting label from Damon Evans' title and he will be the head man starting July 2.

Anyone that gets pushed out of North Philly deserves it. Developers scoop up entire blocks in GHETTOS. Philly has 40,000 abandoned homes. The only part of North Philly that is not a ghetto is Temple. If the hoodiecrats would show some pride, clean up their neighborhoods, pick up their trash and stop killing each other then the developers would not be scoop up entire blocks for peanuts. The locals are afraid the developers will clean up the ghettos and taxes will go up. The hoodiecrat culture is to expand failure.

Once I heard TU announce their proposal at $135 mil I thought it was almost a complete fantasy, nevermind the political cost of doing business in a city like Philly. That’s like going into Saks 5th Avenue with $15 for an anniversary gift.

I'll mock Temple for not being able to get a new football stadium built when Rutgers is finally able to replace the RAC.

So I take it you’ll ignore the construction that’s going on right next door to the RAC?
That’s nice and all, but when most recruits see the concrete dump they’d have to play in, they’ll likely commit elsewhere. Sad because Pikiell’s program is actually heading in the right direction. He’s a good coach.

Nice try fake RU fan.
We have a beautiful On Campus Football Stadium that was constructed 23 years ago and expanded again / upgraded less than 10 years ago.
Crawl back to your Crappy Valley Team hole.

Take your BS comments and take a hike.
I have as much right to comment here as you and you’re not going to silence people who disagree with you, Mr. #1 Fan. By the way RU’s average football attendance is now lower than the pre-expansion capacity so I wouldn’t be bragging about the stadium update to Temple fans.
