Most likely the greatest track and field performance of all time took place on May 25, 1935 at the Big 10 championships

On 25th of May 1935 the 21-year-old Owens averaged a world record every nine minutes at the Big Ten Championships. Five world leading marks and one world equalling effort, all completed with an injury severe enough for his coach to seriously consider pulling him out of the meet at the last minute.

 
That was the highlight of Jesse's life.
The nadir was when the Mets hired him to be their baserunning coach.

Rutgers stadium?? I know they held the AAU national championships there in 1964

My dad competed in the national championships for the decathlon as a HS senior in 1946 and finished 9th competing against grown men and college athletes
