Bunch of stuff shirt right wing wasps from Texas.
What do you expect

Bigot.

No reason to denigrate Christianity over this. Lots of Muslims, Catholics, Mormons, atheists, gays, lesbians and liberals in Texas, as well.

Yet you use a derogatory term for Protestants and blame them for the support of a former university chancellor tied to the mishandling of a rape investigation. On what basis?

Once again, this board takes a needless shot at Christianity, AND the offensive post is shamelessly cheered on by the "tolerant" left.

I don't even know what derogatory term he used, but I'd say the basis for citing Christians ahead of your melting pot of religions is that Baylor is a "top Texas Christian university."

While I'm glad I represent the "tolerant left" to you, I have never pretended to be tolerant of Texas. Hoping some of Trump's wall masons will figure out a way to cut Texas loose (or at least part of it) and send it swimming out into the Gulf.

Classy...and, ironically, very Trump-like of you! Well done...and nice thread hijack!![roll]

Baylor is named for Robert Emmett Bledsoe Baylor, a Lt. Col./Baptist minister who came to TX via KY and AL, who gained famed "fighting" the Creeks in 1836, to relocate the burden from AL to lands west of the Mississippi River. A nice legacy. Go Bears!

Pardon my ignorance, but why is Texas so bad?

Got it. So if a leader at traditionally black university is accused of ignoring or covering up a crime (eg, an injury or death due to hazing), is it all right for someone to use a racist epithet when referring to "alumni and friends" of the university who come out in support of that university leader?

I say no.

Are all "alumni and friends" of Baylor University Baptists? Ken Starr himself was not raised Baptist.

A lot of Texas is great.

Some of it (cities like Dallas and Houston) are pretty much indistinguishable from any other medium-mediocre U.S. city.

Some of it - like Baylor University - is straight-up creepy.

Let's not paint with broad brushes.

Paint with smaller, narrower brushes. You accomplish the same result. It just takes longer and more effort. ;)

It's really just a joke. The way people "hate" New Yorkers or Massholes in the east, and make jokes, people do about Texans in the West, especially in CO ski country, where loud, obnoxious, wealthy Texans are notorious for coming in, skiing terribly and acting like they own the place. In that light, I guess it's actually closer to "bennies" at the Jersey Shore. So I have fun with it, knowing full well that thin-skins like Jersey Jesus and West Point Knight (who has the misfortune of having both Texas and NY roots) will have no idea what I'm talking about and will just get super butthurt. Happens every time.

Beyond that, it's terrible because it's Texas.

Oh, that's why I missed it: because that's not an anti-Christian epithet at all. It's shorthand for the political/social/financial power-wielding status quo. So Jersey Jesus was stretching harder than I thought. Hope he didn't pull something.
