OT: Turks and Caicos

It’s been 30 years since I went to a Club Med. Are They still primarily singles oriented or has that philosophy changed over the years?
Club Med seems like the Carribean equivalent to Mount Airy Lodge.

Yes. At Turks, It’s now an upscale resort of singles and couples. No children.
It was anything but upscale back in the decadent 80s, T & C Club Med was bare bones minimum…. Your room was only a place to crash and convince your roommate to leave for an hour while you hooked up.
The beds and furniture were economy IKIA level.

Thanks for recommendation. Are there good restaurants there and other things to do? Enjoy relaxing on beach but also would like to dive/snorkel and maybe play a round of golf with the wife.
We dined at the restaurants at the resort which were very good. One day, I chartered a fishing boat and caught black fin tuna and brought the fish to the restaurant which cooked them for us.

We also did a snorkeling cruise that left right at our beach. Amazing reefs and then had lunch at iguana island with fresh conch salsa.

There is also a reef you can access right from the beach that has great snorkeling as well.

Stayed at The Palms. Would highly recommend that hotel. Snorkeling was great and Iguana Island was cool to check out too
We stayed at the Palms as well. Great pool and location.

Food on the island is mediocre and overpriced. Most hotel rooms have a kitchenette so you can go to the grocery store in Provinciales for food.

The beaches are the best you’ll ever see.

Nothing like that. It’s upscale now, with luxury housing, though not as nice as Beaches and 7 Star, and a zero edge pool in the heart of the resort.

We stayed at Villa Renaissance on Grace Bay Beach. We used vrbo to book a 2br villa but they have 1bedrooms also. Definitely get a place with an ocean view. There are snorkeling and parasailing charters that pick you up on the beach right in front of the villas. We were within walking distance to Graceway market grocery store. We walked to restaurants every night. Only used a taxi for one of our teens to try kite surfing (now known as kite dragging/drowning lol).

The Ritz Carlton is near Villa Renaissance if you want to splurge on a luxury hotel that has multiple restaurants on site.

It was a bit of a walk, but we enjoyed Conch and Coconuts Restaurant and Rose' bar for some local flair with very friendly owners.
We walked on the beach to Bay Bistro which was expensive but has a great sunset view.

TCI Fast Track was a nice treat when we landed to get whisked through immigration and right to a car service to Grace Bay. We did not use it for departure. Just a warning that PLS airport is far from luxurious and we sat on the floor to wait for our return flight home. Try to fly home on a weekday instead of a weekend to avoid big crowds.

Thanks for feedback and airport transportation tip!
