Same with that glass bridge over the Grand Canyon rim?Ever see the glass bridge in china, and the people unable to stand while on it?
I'd like to give it a go, I think I'd have some trouble with it.

Given our thrashing when we were driven from NY, the British blew a huge chance to end the war right there if they had blockaded the Hudson. Instead, Washington was able to sneak his forces across the river and regroup in NJ. If you've never read it, read 1776 by David McCullough.EVERY NJ resident, in fact every American should know this story. If not for Washington's victories at Trenton and Princeton it is strongly speculated the Revolution would have ended and no USA.
Some people just never learn!Wow, we do a dress rehearsal and we still surprised the Hessians. Those idiots deserved to lose.
Looks like it is livestreamedHmmm.. live streamed anywhere? Snapchat? Youtube afterward?
Can someone put on english accents and boo them loudly and video the crowds reaction?
Maybe german accents and wear Hessian hats?
Another beautiful Christmas Day in Washington Crossing. Not as warm as last year but great for Christmas. And abundant sunshine! First picture is the troops in full march. The general on the right spots Scarlet in her Rutgers Football jacket and starts a RU Rah, Rah chant as he passes. Anyone know him? Big props to him!
By far the easiest Crossing in my 15 years of attending. Almost no current at all. Excellent day!
I can't believe that Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware in boats when I can clearly see a bridge in the background.
He tried to use the bridge but it was jammed packed with people ;)I can't believe that Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware in boats when I can clearly see a bridge in the background.
Wait, wait. How is the water level in the Delaware River the fault of New Jersey's Governor? You do realize Gubernatorial powers don't really include controlling the weather, right? And why in God's name would New Jersey be paying New York and how would that affect the water level in the river?Yes the water is extremely low. Worst ever in the 20+ years I've lived around here. All NJ's fault. Didn't want to resign agreement with NY unless they gave more. So now they give nothing almost. It' not going to happen this year. Land events will continue but a huge disappointment.
Another Christie fck up on his was out.

Umm maybe do some research before you respond. This isn' a weather issue. This is about a 3 state water release deal that expired because NJ wanted a change to a program that has been in place for 10 years and NY, PA, DE were all in agreement to continue it. NJ backed out on a one year extension. The stupidity of not agreeing is beyond any common sense.Wait, wait. How is the water level in the Delaware River the fault of New Jersey's Governor? Hell yeah but it' BYOB.Will there be craft beer there??
Typically, I do the research to support my own outlandish claims. Trying to unravel another's is just guesswork. Thank you and @rurichdog for the links. Now that I actually understand what you are on about, please read the Oct 21st 2017 press release (link below) detailing the FFMP2017 accord which went into effect on October 20th, 2017...Umm maybe do some research before you respond. This has been going on since May, not a new issue.

Not being a History Buff ,I never thought in these terms. We ALL owe an extreme debt of gratitude to the General and his brave men. Most of us are descendants of immigrants. The concept of having had NO place to immigrate to seems strange, but true. This is really worth a watch if you have never viewed it (btw it is played every 30 mins at the visitors center at Washington Crossing State Park - NJ side).

i love the quote by a British historian "it is doubted wether so small a number of men ever employed so small a space of time with greater and more lasting effects on the history of the world."

Whiskey's for drinkin' and water's for fightin'!
The Bureau of Reclamation would approve of this statement.
Hell yeah but it' BYOB.
I heard from a neighbor, who is a participant, late yesterday that this was going to happen. Thrilled that this will occur. An early Christmas gift.Christmas Day reenactment of Washington's Crossing saved by loaner boats
George Washington and his troops' annual Christmas Day trip across the Delaware River has been saved by a nonprofit organization.

Glad it will work outI heard from a neighbor, who is a participant, late yesterday that this was going to happen. Thrilled that this will occur. An early Christmas gift.
Not this year. Everything was done on the PA side. People who parked in NJ walked over. They are really good with land entertainment with the re-enactors by the buildings on the PA side. Will the troops march across the bridge instead?

If Washington doesn't deserve a holiday, then no one else should have one.Had he failed, the world very likely would be a much darker place than it is today.

I've only been to that event once. It' very nice but pales in comparison to the Crossing. Whole different set of re-enactors. Well run but small event. Worth going to at least once.
