I’m not surprised. He had his detractors as all USMNT coaches do. And no coach is perfect.
But he had the team playing a better game than I‘ve ever seen from the USMNT. Much better quality, less reliance on luck. And the team was steadily improving.
Injuries, a lack of quality depth, and a lack of a world class striker hindered us in the WC.
Agreed. I thought Berhalter was a pretty good coach and we did get to the knockout round in the WC, which isn't something we do often (heck, we didn't even make the WC last time). Presumably, he and Reyna will figure out a way to bury the hatchet.
So good to see Robinson back and healthy at central defender. We are a different team with him - his make up speed is invaluable.
Short answer is that Mexico struggled in the group stage drawing Jamaica twice and coming into the semi as the 4th seed due to those results.
Was a great run and pass by Weah and also a great run and finish by Pulisic. World class goal.
Game is getting ugly with that straight red on Montes - not sure why McKinnie would have gotten a red...
When was the last time we totally dominated Mexico like this? Damn we look good. Another awesome goal with a great run by Dest and a very nice finish by Pepi.
Yep. Glad we're taking Pulisic off - don't need him getting injured by the dirty Mexican players or goaded into a red. Worst part is Dest and McKennie are both out for finals. And how can there not be enough security to prevent crap from being tossed onto the field?
That was an insane last 35 minutes or so. Man it is great to see us whip that team.

They are the absolute worst. The game was called early due to the homophobic shout Mexican fans use on goal kicks. Then there were all the cups thrown onto the pitch and shining lasers into the US players eyes - and the refs. Their players are nearly as awful as their fans.

Anything could happen. But I think it likely GB will still be coaching the USMNT in the next WC. I could see Crocker being replaced as sporting director before then, though.
We can fire Berhalter in 2025, then hire Pep to coach them for the Cup (Guardiola loved living in the US, and is rumored to be done with City after his contract is up).
Looked as great as ever last night just letting the players play and now to re-hire Berhalter the sad sack of a coach is asinine. His system kills what we're best at. All this after a 6 month lay off as well. Ridiculous.
I missed this before I posted. What a load of crap.
I wonder if, as part of this equity decision the USSF instituted, the women gave up the things they used to get that the men didn’t.
The women used to be paid their salary for being part to the overall squad, the men had to actually be called up to play to get paid. Basically the women were treated as employees while the men were treated like contractors. It would be ridiculous if that setup still exists but the pay is equal.
