OT: What are you all drinking tonight

Absolutely! Gonna have to pick up another bottle when I get a chance.
Nice!

I am new to this thread, but I have a Starward Australian Single Malt whisky at cask strength. It was aged in a Barossa Valley Red Wine Barrique.

It was chosen by an extremely knowledgeable leader of the Drammers Club, based in NYC, I believe. Apparently there are about 20 distilleries down under.

Excellent, especially when a bit of water is added. Extremely easy to drink and I can even taste the fruit notes, which I am usually not able to discern.

Jm - How is wine NOT vegan?
ARE AVALINE WINES VEGAN?
Yes, we opt for animal-free fining, so you can drink easy knowing no egg whites, fish bladders, or casein are used in the making of our wine.

So my wayward child came home from college last night. One of the things he'd ask me was to try some Lagavulin, so after he got home (late) and we ate, I broke out the bottle. He enjoyed it immensely, guess he's really developed a taste for the peat.

That sounds interesting, first I've heard of Australia producing single malts. If it's cask strength, than, yeah, you'd better add some water! Now here's something to ponder: when we were down there in '99, my wife and I visited a vineyard in the Barossa Valley who produced a Shiraz we loved, called Wolf Blass. We were able to get it here in the states up until about 7-8 years ago, now we can't find it anywhere. Excellent, excellent Shiraz, paired perfectly with porterhouse off the grill.

Welcome Brian!!!!!!!!!!! I was thinking of you today with the announcement of the Gator Bowl.
Hi Bob! Happy Holidays to you, Leah and your son (I can’t remember his name).

The Birmingham Bowl was such a blast with you guys. I often tell the story of our kids playing touch football at that tailgate and Leah surprising all of the boys with her speed/athleticism.

Can’t go to the Gator Bowl as my daughter and her fiancé are up here from Charlotte and we have family obligations. Are you going?

Spanky, the spirits expert from the Drammers Club said that Aussie whisky doesn’t make it out of their country because what is produced is fully consumed INSIDE Australia. He had worked for a long time to get his order. Maybe the same thing is happening with you Shiraz.

Made a trip to Tree House on Monday:

Nice, I hear Treehouse is amazing. I've been to Trillium but not Treehouse. Trillium has some great stuff if you never had.
Going with Hardywood Kentucky Christmas Morning tonight. Milk stout aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels with ginger, vanilla, honey, cinnamon and coffee. The perfect Christmas time beer IMO

Trillium and Treehouse are indeed amazing. Troon is small batch but actually think they're better. If I start a brewery it's going to begin with a TR!

The other night I tried one of my Christmas gifts, The Singleton, Glendullan, 15yo.

I wasn't that impressed with it. Not bad, but I expected more from a fifteen year old single malt.

On another note, I have not been able to find my favorite dram, Johnnie Walker Green. I've checked 5 stores so far, and nothing. I talked with the owner at my favorite place, and he told me they haven't been able to get any in for a couple of months. I had Tyler check down in Virginia this weekend, and they don't have it there either. There's no news on them stopping production, so is it just an import issue?

Had a white whale in the craft beer world. Used to be rated as best beer in the world. Now generally still top 10. Topplin Goliath’s Mornin Delight. Probably the best beer I’ve ever had. Unreal stout. A 12.8 pcter but is so perfectly balanced you get zero alcohol bite

Gotta go with a Islay Scotch tonight. Having Laphroaig 15 year old. My last dram of the bottle and sadly this one has been discontinued by them.
