OT: Who makes the BEST Pizza You’ve ever had?

Ilvento's - Jersey City... no longer there... but in-laws had grown up going to this Italian family restaurant, and then I started going. It was incredible.. shame they closed down. Believe they shut down in late 90's ??
** right now, it is Pete & Elda's or Federici's

Double Zero Pizza in Fairfield, NJ. He makes his dough from 00 wheat imported from Italy that has not been altered over the hundreds/thousands of years. It's not GMO modified and is so pure that my wife, who is gluten free, can digest it easily. The taste is like nothing I've tasted before and there are a ton of pizza places in my neck of the woods.

Correct on West Side Ave, close to Saint Peter’s. Fantastic place.

Papa’s in Robbinsville is my favorite. They call theirs a tomato pie.

Portnoy loved delorenzos in Robbinsville, all the apizza places in new haven, Sally's, and Angelo's in Philly.

Pizza is pretty simple. I think most pizza is good. My favorites were the local mom and pop places where I grew up.

Wish I could remember the place in Hackensack- no more than a couple hundred yards from Rest Depot- their thin crust was the best I ever had in the mid 2005's. Little dive place on the corner-
While I love our normal pizza- these came out wafer thing crust with the perfect brown and ability to hold the pizza up. Strangely- Garlic Anchovy was one of their best

Right !?!.. what a shame... and have not been able to find anything online that the family opened elsewhere, or maybe someone else is making the pies....

Are fresh bread dough, mozzarella, olive oil, tomato sauce, and oregano basic pizza ingredients?

Lido’s?

Kate and Al’s - Columbus Flea Market
Galley - Asbury Park (Detroit style burrata pepperoni)

I’m definitely on board with DeLucia’s and De Lorenzo’s (Robbinsville location of course) as my top 2.

If you’re into the gourmet wood-fired style, Razza in Jersey City is pretty damn good.

This tiny place in San Gimignamo, Italy was the best. @RUScrew85 eyes rolled back in his head having his first bite

Amore's in Flushing, NY is my favorite here in the states, but, alas, I have not had it in quote some time.

I live in Robbinsville...Papas wins out over Delos for us because Papas delivers. I watch people lining up for 45 minutes for delos..not sure it's with it

That Connecticut place didn't suck either.

They had an online store for their sauce but I just saw the son passed away last year. Respected Dr. that decided he needed a hobby and made sauce.

Not many places like that around anymore.

I have to say - there was a place near IBM Poughkeepsie...Wish I knew if it was still there...but they had an insane Sicilian that spoiled me and a ny type thing 8 slice pizza where the mozzarella had that nice little burn but still had that pull of cheese that dripped onto your chin every damn bite.

That is what I miss- I no longer see that anywhere- the brown burn and the pull that is falling off your chin.

DeLos MUST be eaten hot. After it cools it's like eating cardboard.
DeLos = greatest pizza in the world
Might get it for lunch tomorrow. Small pie, whole basil, half pepperoni. Mixed greens salad as well.

IlVentos was great. Would go there after St Peters games with my dad and uncle.

I can't remember the name of this spot because it closed down in the mid 1990s but we use to go in the late 1970s-80s off Fort Hamilton Parkway in Brooklyn USA

Renato’s on Central Avenue is my current favorite and have a pretty damn good Margarita. I think they have been there since the 60’s. Rizzo’s Bakery on Central Avenue also is decent. I live in The Heights, so have tried a lot of different places throughout the city since I moved here 6 years ago.

Cebula's in Dupont, PA. Small, 1950's pizza joint. Cheap pitchers of Yuengling with small glasses. Pizza like none other. Potato crust (dense), probably yellow American cheese with some cuts (not slices) slightly charred cheese and tasty as hell. Daughter drove alone three and a half hours round trip once just to eat a few cuts. I was pissed she didnt bring any back, as we have driven in to eat, then bring back multiple trays (not pies) totalling $60-80 for family and friends. A disclaimer, the joint was sold a year or two back and I havent been there since, so not sure if anything has changed.
