Others Receiving Votes (1)

I think 12-0 heading into the Seton Hall game gets them in the top 25 but nothing short of that

Right now we are showing promise but a win in Coral Gables proves this is not a fluke.

I know I'm getting ahead of myself and I'm obviously a homer but I'd like to think 8-0 with a win at Miami gets them in there.

The fact that this thread even exists & we are having this conversation makes me happy beyond belief! What a difference a year makes!

On yahoo sports app, when you look at the big ten team rankings RU has a 40 ranking next to it. Anyone know what that is? OSU is 38 and Indiana is 3. Is that because of the 1 vote?

There's a site I frequent an embarrassing number of times during college basketball season that tracks all sorts of data about the AP poll since 1949. You can find out which schools have been ranked most often, which schools have been ranked in the top-10 and top-5 most often, etc.

I never realized how good Big Ten basketball teams have been in the rankings over the years until I looked at these numbers. Eight B1G programs are top-25 nationally in all time AP poll appearances.

7) Indiana - 548 all time top-25 appearances
10) Illinois - 445
11) Michigan State - 412
14) Maryland - 393
15) Ohio State - 379
16) Michigan - 378
21) Iowa - 341
24) Purdue - 323

39) Wisconsin - 232
40) Minnesota - 225
116) Nebraska - 31
119) Rutgers - 26
139) Penn State - 15
148) Northwestern - 12

Six B1G basketball programs rank among the top-25 nationally all-time in overall AP poll appearances, top-10 appearances, and top-5 appearances:

Indiana - 548 top-25/280 top-10/179 top-5
Illinois - 445/225/95
Michigan State - 412/207/93
Maryland - 393/186/102
Ohio State - 379/225/142
Michigan - 378/198/113

Funny enough, each of the those programs (except Illinois) has won at least one national championship in men's hoops.

I wonder what these same lists would look like for football.
